2001:4060:C00B:EDE0:7C51:AD9D:8BF9:13E5 (talk) 09:22, 8 February 2024 (UTC) Chemrefer is dead and honestly, linking Library subject guides as "recommendation" is quite strange. It seems as if someone at RSC or the initial owner of the page wanted to build some kind of link spam network. I don't edit the "recommendations", so people can build their own opinion about RSC' spam tactics.
This has been speedied as db-spam, but it appears not to be spam. It seems to be describing a free search engine that only indexes freely-available chemical literature online. With some re-writes, this could be a worthwhile article for inclusion. Thanks, Clicketyclack 20:02, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- It does not appear to meet WP:WEB standards, and that big logo at the top does not help matters much. DarkAudit 20:09, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. I've just wikified it a bit, removed the logo, and tagged it for notability. Let's give him a chance to establish notability, then prod it if the evidence doesn't appear, rather than speedy it. Clicketyclack 20:19, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
I did do the following to try to establish notability: "reference published, third-party sources about the subject"
Those third-party links were changed to Wikipedia links. Also, many other company logos are displayed on their associated Wikipedia pages, so the display of the logo is an unfair criticism. Anyway, I give up. Just delete the stupid thing.

- The external links you provided were only to the front pages of search engines, which can also be found in their associate Wikipedia articles, so I changed them to Wikilinks. What's needed is external sources actually mentioning ChemRefer by name. So I've also added some links to external sources, which I think prove that this article should stay up. I'll keep hunting. There's nothing wrong with displaying the company logo: I'll put that back into a company infobox when I get some time, unless someone else does it first. Thanks, Clicketyclack 06:19, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm not convinced. The link to BASE-search.net has been changed to a Wikipedia page which lists it as a "Belgian mobile phone operator". This isn't really what I had in mind. Willg1982 10:53, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
OK, I edited the Wikipedia BASE page to include the search engine too. Willg1982 11:06, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- Excellent, thanks. I've just created an article BASE (search engine), and moved your external link into the new article, since disambiguation pages should only point to Wikipedia articles: see WP:MOSDAB. Clicketyclack 11:32, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Suits me fine
editWithdrew the speedy tag. Good luck to you. DarkAudit 12:44, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Chemrefer dissapeared
edit- Chemrefer now redirects to chemspider. Chemfinder as far as I have been able to find out does not limit searches to free access literature. This is unfortunate. Do other search engines exist like chemrefer? V8rik (talk) 16:16, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
