Is "I Hate Love" a single?

edit

Is "I Hate Love" a single? It is currently listed as a promotional single in the wiki article, but I have found well known reliable sources stating that it's a single: [1], [2], [3], [4] CountyCountry (talk) 08:29, 11 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • @CountyCountry: I would look for either an official confirmation from Clarkson's label (Atlantic Records) or evidence that it was sent out to radios. Media outlets have a tendency to say that any song put out prior to an album's release is a single even if that is not the case. I would not go by music journalists alone, and I would instead go with something more official. I can see how that can be confusing. To be honest, I wish that Atlantic Records or Clarkson was clearer on the release strategy for this album regarding what is a single versus a promotional single versus just a single put out there. I hope that clears it up though. Aoba47 (talk) 17:03, 3 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

"Mine/Me" and "Favorite Kind of High" are the only ones called "single" by Atlantic Records on their press release. As the definition of "single" in digital era has blurred, WP:SINGLESCRIT#Factors that suggest a song is a single include the point "The song was referred to as a single by the record label releasing it." Meanwhile, "I Hate Love" and "Red Flag Collector" are only referred to as "song" on their press releases [5][6] Bluesatellite (talk) 08:10, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
