Given that this article is a couple paragraphs that say, essentially, that its title and topic is a synonym for phoneme, I'm not sure there's a good reason for it to be a separate article from that one. It seems like it'd make more sense to interpolate it into the appropriate sections of the phoneme and phonology articles.
