editValidation: I was talking with one of the County people the other day, and he confirmed that Cherrywood, as part of a Greater Rathmichael-Cherrywood Area, is a formal new District Centre, and legally will be a new Town Centre once the Luas is in. So the business park (strictly, I was told, a Science and Technology Park) is here, unlike perhaps other areas, just the beginning of what I was assured was a rare thing, the deliberate formation of a new suburb (only other example the guy could think of was Adamstown). - OK. But of course "deliberate" isn't a necessary pre-condition for a suburb! Most just evolve out of urban sprawl. (Sarah777 20:11, 20 June 2007 (UTC))
- But if emerging, I still think there either needs to be general recognition by media and communities - which takes time, or, and preferably, by official bodies. Even after all the strong growth, most of Dublin's suburbs have long histories - but some new ones, such as Clonee/Ongar, have emerged, albeit if those two are considered separate, the first is centred on a small old village. Anyway, adding a reference to back up my note above. SeoR 01:17, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- Must say, Ongar is a surprise package. I'd never even heard of it! I'd guess that if not for the county line it might just be part of Clonee. (Sarah777 07:29, 23 June 2007 (UTC))
- And I am not sure if it should not be listed as part of Clonee, which spreads across parts of Meath and Dublin anyway. Ongar as such is a developer invention, and some of the "component parts" of Clonee are bigger. Ah well, SeoR 22:18, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Name change
editInterested parties pl note: this article was moved to "Cherrywood, Ireland" so as to disambiguate from a Cherrywood redlink somewhere in America. (God knows why). I moved it to "Cherrywood, Dublin" as per standard convention for Dublin urban areas. Sarah777 (talk) 02:34, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Update needed
editIt's now 2023 and there's been much development in just the last few years. I think this article could do with an overhaul and maybe some new pictures? 86.41.89.230 (talk) 19:46, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- It certainly does need to be updated...though I like the photos! Feel free to do the donkey-work ;) Sarah777 (talk) 23:11, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
