ACP Tour qualifier

Currently the page says 4 presidential nominees but in the regulations there are only 3 presidential nominees and 1 player from the 2022 ACP Tour. Also I couldn't find the 2022 ACP Tour standings anywhere, so please help. Dev Darshan T. K. (talk) 05:06, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Right. It appears the 2022 Tour didn't happen at all (like the previous two, though I couldn't find a source directly stating that), and if that is the case, and according to the regulations the spot would go to an aditional PN A3811 (talk) 07:29, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Sergey Karjakin

Now obviously Wikipedia isn't a crystal ball and we shouldn't predict, but considering Karjakin's ban was 6 months he should be eligible to play in this tournament. Has there been any indication that FIDE may reinstate the ban until he withdraws his remarks? Couruu (talk) 09:03, 9 May 2023 (UTC)

Sort by rating

Hi, within the next month we are excpecting most of the remaining qualifiers to be announced. DOes anyone know if there's a way to sort all the qualifiers by rating, rather than enter each one manually in a different place? A3811 (talk) 15:50, 18 May 2023 (UTC)

Prize money

I fail to understand the table of prize money.

• One source says that the prize money for Round 1 has been increased from $3000 to $3750.
• Look at (say) the competitor who comes fourth overall. Assume they get a bye in the first round. Then it looks like they will get a total of $92,000 for winning their matches in Rounds 2 to 6, and then a further $50,000 for fourth place, despite not winning any further matches after Round 6. Is that right? If I have double-counted somewhere, then the figure for the total prize money will also have been double-counted.

4th place wins only $50,000. "round" means which round the player was eliminated, just like in the 2021 page A3811 (talk) 11:05, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

Uganda representative

The source mentioned (Uganda Chess Federation) says that FM Haruna Nsubuga is the Ugandan representative but the preliminary list of qualifiers says it's FM Okas Walter. Any thoughts? Dev Darshan T. K. (talk) 06:55, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

I've seen reports than Nsubuga has financial trouble participating in the World Cup. He may have been replaced voluntarily...

Participants for the World Cup

FIDE gave this list of participants https://www.fide.com/docs/regulations/20230612_World_Cup_Baku_list_of_players_confirmed.xlsx (downloads a spreadsheet) for the World Cup. Many qualified participants are missing from this list, as well as some other participants added with no indication as to what they were added for. Does anyone have any more information than what's given here? FIDE will likely finalise a list by July, but what should we be doing in the meantime? Bibi on wiki (talk) 21:27, 13 June 2023 (UTC)

Hans Niemann

Why is Hans Niemann not playing in the World Cup ? Does he not want to ? Or is there another reason ?

This is not an open tournament. You have to qualify for an invitation. Usually invitations go to the current world champion, world junior champion, the top four players in the previous World Cup, winners of zonal tournaments, highest ratings of zones, and a handful of nominees made by FIDE and by the host country. Nepo, Magnus, and reserves for Candidates

Hi, if Nepo finishes in Top 3, or Magnus and he doesn't play Candidates, 4th place will qualify. However if both happen, there will only be 2 World Cup qualifiers. Is this worth a note in the article? A3811 (talk) 15:38, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
