Assessment

edit

I am assessing this article based on a request left at the Schools project page. I am currently pushing this article up to Start while maintaining its importance at Low.

I just went in and added a reference section and a new infobox, which itself includes references for some basic information. I also removed a listing of non notable staff members which were not encyclopedic.

A great place to start would be [article guidelines page for schools articles]. This includes a listing of what sections a good school article should have, in addition to what should not be included.

It is critical that information be supported with reliable sources. Ideally, these sources should be sources that are not the school or district itself, though this is OK for non-controversial things. Check out Wikipedia's policy on verifiability and the citation templates that will help you format citations in the article. The more extraordinary or potentially controversial the claim, the more important it is that the reference supporting the claim be a third party reliable source.

Given the age of the school, and the claim that it is the direct descendent of the oldest in Wyoming, the school's history should be expanded and referenced. Further, it appears that the JROTC may have some level of national notability given it is the oldest in Wyoming, and that the Wyoming model of JROTC became the national model just a few years after this school's program was founded.

Pictures would be a great addition. Make sure to not violate copyright laws in posting them. The school logo would be a great addition in the infobox.

Best of luck in your editing! LonelyBeacon (talk) 04:40, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Requesting some help fixing broken citations in the references tab—I’m not experienced with coding so I’m not sure how to do them properly. Amberbalzer0920 (talk) 00:12, 9 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Amberbalzer0920: Hello. I have removed citations to Niche.com, since I do not believe it meets Wikipedia's guidelines for reliable sources. You may find Help:Referencing for beginners useful. Please remember that information should be supported by reliable sources, and that Wikipedia strongly favors independent sources. Thanks. Grayfell (talk) 00:21, 9 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
