Controversy
editThough the facts over the recent history of this bridge are well-documented and referenced, there has been an active campaign to remove references to past history as it relates to future of this bridge for local transit from this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.88.53.144 (talk) 13:13, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
Rename
editI suggest this page be renamed Prince of Wales Railway Bridge (Ottawa), as I believe there are plans to build another bridge across the Rideau River at the end of Prince of Wales Drive. --RealGrouchy 19:40, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
- Wouldn't that bridge be in Ottawa as well? -- Earl Andrew - talk 04:19, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- I think he's advocating more for the addition of 'Railway' than of 'Ottawa', to differentiate. Do we know for certain that this Prince of Wales Drive bridge will be named for the road? Radagast 00:37, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Some bridges end up being called by the name of the road that passes over them as often as by their official names (e.g. the Bloor Viaduct). —Eric S. Smith 17:58, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Spur
editThe article states "Trains of the Quebec Gatineau Railway have still used the Gatineau side as a spur, to manoeuvre into the E.B. Eddy/Domtar plant on Lemieux Island." While there is a set of tracks leading into the area, the split is closer to the Ottawa side meaning that trains would have to go all the way to the Ottawa bridge and then reverse direction to use the tracks. Even so, the tracks encounter a fence which is also blocked by storage sheds. The tracks are also overgrown so they're no longer used. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skootles (talk • contribs) 20:49, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
MOOSE iniitiative
editThere is a private sector initiative to build an extensive commuter rail system in Ottawa-Gatineau, and the Prince of Wales bridge is a key element of the plan.
See below one article relating to the bridge as it relates to this initiative.
