Talk:Children's Television Act

Legacy of This Act

edit

Research with citations would need to be made to verify what I'm going to write here:

This Act killed the afternoon and Saturday morning kids block directly. Even though others would like to point out the factors of Cartoon Network or Nicktoons on cable, at the allotted times in question, these channels are lucky if they manage even a million viewers. It used to be, if a TV station wasn't part of the "Big Three" that the TV station would usually run cartoons from 5 AM to 9 AM, sometimes 10 AM for the daycare centers. Around 2003, this was phased out because the FCC began to enforce this Act quietly. This's why Kids' WB and Disney's One Too were cancelled suddenly, and Fox Kids...well, read about that at the Fox Kids article. It's quiet a history with Fox and children programming.

This Act has disallowed an entire generation of children so far to go grow up with nothing to watch that spurs their imagination like I had every afternoon. I know that there must be other critics of this Act somewhere. Again, as I'm written above, this is for further research and citation. Until then... here is a well written and sourced article for a critique of the CTA, please add it to the article. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1374/is_6_59/ai_57800239/ --Compn (talk) 08:33, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Biased

edit

I have a concern with this article. The article seems like that the CTA gotten almost entirely positive reception, but there are probably a lot of negative opinions about the act. C3F2k (Questions, comments, complaints?) 02:24, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
