Fluff

edit

This article is obviously PR fluff and should be edited, deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.169.34.225 (talk) 13:51, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

name change

edit

Apparently the name change is legit. it comes from a japanese press release off the Asia league website. It hasn't been translated to english yet. The official site hasn't been updated, but we need new logos for the article, and the article will have to have new sections dealing with the new name, etc.--Crossmr (talk) 00:29, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

So the SJ Sharks are no longer sponsoring the team? 209.105.207.151 (talk) 15:56, 22 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
That's correct. There was some difference of opinion or something and SJ pulled out their support, players and staff.--Crossmr (talk) 01:06, 23 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mikhail Nemirovsky - Flag

edit

Got a problem with this flag. He's identified as german on the trade sheet, but he was born in Russia, and apparently holds triple citizenship between Russia, Germany and Canada [1], at the same time this site still identifies him as a german national. They may simple have listed him as so because it looks like its the last citizenship he acquired and he was in germany prior--Crossmr (talk) 14:56, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

incidentally here is a photo that can be used in an article on him File:Mikhail Nemirovsky.jpg.--Crossmr (talk) 15:26, 25 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
You've stumbled upon one of the biggest issues we have in the hockey project. We normally just use the country of birth as the easiest way to deal with this but then there are players like Robyn Regehr who were born in Brazil but have played internationally with Team Canada. So then we make exceptions for players who played on national teams of other countries. But this has lead to much arguing about the situation. And has as you have already seen lead to removing or renaming the nationality field on the infobox and will probably lead to stripping these sorts of fields from roster tables as well. Technically we are violating a policy by having them but up until this point the hockey project has used IAR to ignore it and kept the nationality fields. As for actual bio articles we try to mention any citizenship they have in the article as long as there is a legit source, any unsourced citizenships should be left out of bio articles. This happens alot with NHL players as a large number of them end up with dual citizenships but there is usually never any proof of it. The other big problem is that people confuse citizenship with nationality. The two are different things, you can be a national of a country and not have citizenship there and you can have citizenship in a country but not be a national there. -DJSasso (talk) 16:38, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
