editThere seems to be some disagreement as to whether this is a standard or modified GE locomotive. I suspect that any modifications are very minor, e.g. couplings. Biscuittin 12:13, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't have a reference at hand to cite, so I won't try to edit the article, but I recall from some years back that there are a number of significant differences between these locomotives and the C36-7 built for North American railroads. The Chinese units are shorter -- intermediate in length between domestic B36-7 and C36-7 -- which I assume is part of a major weight-reduction effort. The Chinese units were built in two orders; at least the second has visually very different cabs from domestic Dash-7 units.68.148.5.87 (talk) 06:35, 1 January 2015 (UTC) (Allen Hazen: fairly knowledgeable person interested in railroads but not working in industry)

editSomeone keeps saying that a character named 'Tony' is based off this, I looked up this 'Tony' and he is a freelanced locomotive. Also the Wiki says he's freelanced, so whoever is doing it. Please stop, he's not a ND5. Green Shy Guy 54 (talk) 15:33, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
