Conflict of Interest?
editHi, I'm an American currently working as an editor for the English-language edition of Chinese Social Sciences Today, a newspaper operated by CASS, and I was wondering if it would be acceptable for me to contribute to editing this page and related pages, such as bios of CASS scholars. Normally, I would steer clear of any semblance of conflict-of-interest, but I think maybe an exception should be made given that there is a paucity of people who are knowledgeable on this relatively obscure topic and I have access to a lot of useful information that is inaccessible to most people, especially if they don't speak Chinese. For instance, my colleagues are interested in helping out too. We translate dense academic articles for a living, so I think we could really help expand the amount of English translations of Chinese primary sources.
We're not being instructed or paid by our bosses to do this. I mean I guess there is no way to know for sure, so you have to take my word for it that I'm doing this of my own volition. And I have no particular interest in pushing any kind of POV. Mainly I just want to add some non-controversial biographical information and enhance the articles with pictures. Also I'm a professional editor and journalist with more than 10 years experience writing and editing, so I could contribute a lot in terms of polishing up the language. --RedHermit1982 (talk) 03:20, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
