Why is it called the Chinese hypothesis?

- The book The Little Book of Bigger Primes by Paulo Ribenboim on pages 88 and 89 gives a summary of the history of this conjecture. Basically, it comes from China but from the mid-1800s, although it was mistakenly thought to be much older by other authors. Jason Quinn (talk) 20:31, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
