Personal Life
editThere's no section on Chris' personal life, for example his sister was killed in an accident between a train an a concrete truck http://www.tracksafe.co.nz/supporters.html which caused Chris to start a charity (name now changed). Also, this page will be of interest at the moment because Chris is currently before the courts in proceedings related to match fixing.

The phrasing about a 'major heart attack which caused an aortic dissection' is wrong. Needs amendment. Confusion around an aortic dissection being a heart condition is common especially in media reports and is medically wrong, but could be the source of this wording, simply by quoting such wrong wording without checking the accuracy of such quotes. A heart attack cannot "cause" an aortic dissection. Aortic dissections are a product of the characteristics of the aorta, not the heart. However, an aortic dissection can produce a reduction in blood flow to the coronary arteries as the tissues of the aortic root can swell and cause blockage/partial blockage of the coronaries, thus showing the signs of a heart attack. But the heart attack is then said to be secondary to the AD. MIs like this are thought to happen in around 7% of ADs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IdidntgetwhereIamCJ (talk • contribs) 09:25, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

editDo we really need the word 'champion' before 'all rounder' ? Surely that is not objective! Novacatz 07:12, 18 Jan 2005 (UTC)
The article really is not sufficiently objective. I've added a short para with a link to a recent NZ Herald article to try and bring some balance. My own belief is that Cairns just never properly fulfilled his talent, with the exception of a couple of seasons around the turn of the century (leading the 1999 victory in England and being the one NZ player able to stand toe to toe with Steve Waugh's world record breaking Australian side). He was plauged by injury but I can't help noting the comparison with how well Pollock and Hadlee prolonged their careers, perhaps because they played most of the time just within themselves. I rather suspect Freddie Flintoff might burn out because of the punishment he always inflicts on his substantial frame. JRJW Feb '06
Chris(topher)?
editWe have "Christopher" in the article title and "Chris" in the infobox; shouldn't these be standardised, and if so what to? Loganberry (Talk) 01:33, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I'm wondering why Christopher was chosen for the location, rather than Chris --Paul 05:34, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
