Decapitation strategy
editThe article says "He also came under criticism after the party performed below expectations at the 2005 general election, especially in the 'decapitation strategy' he advanced to divert significant resources for the Lib Dems to try to unseat senior Conservatives, which proved largely unsuccessful.". I'm not sure whether this is 100% accurate. The Tory seats the Lib Dems targetted were ones that justified it in terms of the election results last time round, regardless of the status of the particular MP and largely suffered (with the exception of Westmorland and Lonsdale) similiarly poor results as seats such as Orpington without prominent Tories. While the prospect of getting rid of Tory frontbenchers was used to motivate activists, the party leadership always seemed careful never to (attributably) advocate a 'decapitation strategy'. Does anyone have any sources? Paulleake 13:55, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
You are correct. There was not a formal "decapitation strategy" it is just some seats with high profile Conservatives were in the range of those that could be expected to fall. Duncan Borrowman National Campaigns Officer Lib Dems
I've removed 'The Liberal's criticisms. It has no more validity than any vanity publicaiton. There should be some statement about the 2005 election result, but from a credible source. The Land 10:46, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Channel 4 news have got a big story on how this guy has been using his 'power' as a big name in the Lib Dems (?) to sexually harass dozens of women. I've never added a section to an article before and am not sure how to go about it but think this is relevant. It's the only time I've ever seen his Bunteresque figure on any news programme. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.18.227.100 (talk) 19:38, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
- Surely this warrants a page of its own? The small section that exists is inadequate given what is currently going on. Michael Heseltin (talk) 07:20, 6 March 2013 (UTC)
- The section should be expanded. A page about the case is not warranted. Jim Michael (talk) 19:28, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
Conflicts of Interest
editI've added the COI tag to the top of this article, as I believe that a lot of the edits by Pippi1234 and Makemend might have introduced a bias, as they've overwhelmingly positive and the accounts both have few or no edits outside this area.
