LC online catalog records

edit

The list of Works is complete with respect to the Library of Congress Online Catalog (see Ext links), if i clerk correctly and we do not count derivative works.

LCCat records cover five more titles. These are books published by Houghton Mifflin in 2004, derivative of the Polar Express book or movie. The first four seem to be standard picture books (unpaged or 31/32pp).

I am not familiar with the spin-off book business, nor with its treatment here.

The article now refers to two LCCat records. The Mysteries of Harris Burdick may be another of sufficient interest.

Summary: "Presents a series of loosely related drawings each accompanied by a title and a caption which the reader may use to make up his or her own story." The first-listed LCSH is "Plot-your-own stories picture book".

Chris Van Allsburg and his "older sister" were both born in 1949, according to this article.

The specific information about Karen (his sister) is irrelevant for inclusion in this BLP "He has a sister named Karen, born in 1947." WP:BLP,WP:IRIWritethisway (talk) 15:52, 22 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Original research?

edit

This is the last paragraph / sentence of the article: "Van Allsburg's drawings are particularly notable for their use of perspective. In many cases the illustrations are drawn from a child's eye height. This viewpoint likely appeals to children because it conveys the world as they see it. It may also appeal to adults because they may (unconsciously) perceive the world as they did when they were children.[citation needed]"

I have to call you on this. Without a source, the statement smacks of original research. Red flags: "notable" by whom?; "likely"; "may also appeal"; "unconsciously". Lots of illustrators and fine artists utilize perspective, even from the viewpoint of children and small animals. You'd do just as well stating that the appeal of Van Allsburg's artwork is that he's a master at it. Still unsourced, but obvious. Seriously, though, sorce or delete.

As a matter of fact, there are no citations at all in that whole section. Tagged. Thank you for your time, Wordreader (talk) 07:56, 3 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
