Chart and Record sales statistics

I'm disputing the accuracy of the record sales and chart standings statistics in the Discography section. Over the past year or so, I've been noticing the record sales statistics keep changing rapidly, although none of them are cited, to a point where I no longer believe anything written there. I'm almost ready to remove all chart and record sales statistics for the accuracy of this article, if we don't have a source for them. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) June 30, 2005 00:22 (UTC)

I agree, the information is constantly changing and who knows what's right, if any of it. Everyking 30 June 2005 01:16 (UTC)
Is it okay for me to remove the chart and sales references until I find some which I can acutually site? I feel we have some POV pushers Sneak Vandalizing the section. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) June 30, 2005 02:09 (UTC).
Hey are you an idiot or something go to RIAA.com web page and click search data then type christina's name and then it'll show you all of christina's certifications in the US dumbass. I'm the one who put that information there and it's all right okay. -- Edit history shows this entry belongs to User:207.200.116.71
What's your problem? Your insults don't belong in Wikipedia, and can be held against you. I'm just following Wikipedia's cite sources rule. If you want to add chart info, then give credit to where you found it. But thanks for the RIAA site suggestion, I'll look into it. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) July 4, 2005 02:01 (UTC)
Sorry for the insult i take it back but you need to get your information right because i took it as a personal insult that you would say that my information was wrong when it's right okay so did you look into the RIAA.com website yet if you did, did you find the information i found. --Edit history shows this entry belongs to User: 207.200.116.71 on 19:58, July 3, 2005
Actually, I was directing my comment about Sneaky vandalism to User:Laps87, who changed the statistics after posting biased statements against Xtina. Sorry if it looked like I directed them at you. But I have two suggestions for you. First, create a username for yourself. I think you are not the only person who's edited Wikipedia under your IP, signing up would at least identify who you are, and make sure people don't revert your signifigant edits. Second, create a link to the page you got the chart standings from, like this [http://www.source.url]. At least it will give some of the editors peace-of-mind on where these numbers are coming from. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) July 5, 2005 00:24 (UTC)

Since when are christina's debut album sales so high? The last time i checked them they were at 12 million not 16 million where did the other 4 million come from? Stripped has sold 10.5 Million worldwide didn't her record label put out that statement?

Her debut album was shipped 16 million worldwide and it has been sold around 12 million at the end of 2000.The sales do not be updated for a long time.I believe that it has been now sold 13 million . -- Unsigned 10:10, July 5, 2005 by User:61.90.119.231

Actually I heard that her self-titled album sold 22 million copies worldwide. -- Unsigned 19:54, July 8, 2005 by User:207.200.116.71

That would mean she is rivialing Britney's sales status and i dont think its sold that much. How it went from 12 million to 16 million to 22 million no i dont think thats true at all.

22 million is impossible.From her site,her debut has been sold around 16 million copies. -- Unsigned 16:13, July 9, 2005 by User:68.49.12.253

So what are you trying to say that Britney Spears is better. Britney may have better sales than Christina, but Christina has had more #1 singles and Grammy Awards than Britney so who cares if Britney has better sales and Christina can belt out a note like no other artist out. -- Unsigned 00:32, July 10, 2005 by User:61.90.121.171

Uh, I have a reference for both Christina Aguilera and Stripped. Does anyone care to view it? If so, go to the following source -> [1] 64.231.71.189 18:25, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

Uh, what's your point?

Maybe if you'd actually go to the site? It says that Stripped has sold four million copies in the US and Christina Aguilera has sold eight million in the US. That's pretty accurate in the article, and since this is an official website, I'm sure it isn't incorrect. Thank God 64.231.71.189 came along, or this outrage would be ongoing. DrippingInk 00:55, July 11, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. I added the statistics from that site to the article and added the site to the list of references. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 06:26, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

Okay we know the US sales of her records were talking about her worldwide sales of her debut album.

Why are the chart positions being used based on the ARC Weekly Top 40? Shouldn't they be based on the Billboard Hot 100? That is the main U.S. singles chart, after all, and it seems more appropriate to use them. - Triggy, Jul. 12.

Because those are the only ones which are cited. If we can cite the Billboard 100 charts, then by all means, add it to the article. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 09:49, July 12, 2005 (UTC)
Yes. They should be given according to the Hot 100. That's standard. Everyking 05:29, 12 July 2005 (UTC)
Cited --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 14:11, July 20, 2005 (UTC)

Having something is better then having nothing. I do remember hearing that her debut album sold roughly around what Avril Lavigne's Let Go sold. That would be fifteen million copies in the least. Perhaps it really is sixteen million? Where could we find a notable source? DrippingInk 14:14, July 13, 2005 (UTC)

Now we need the sources for the UK and Worldwide charts. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 14:11, July 20, 2005 (UTC)

RIAA Gold and Platinum Database Search official RIAA search page, showing certification. Output is abbreviated, G = certified gold (500,000 albums sold), M(N) is certified multi-platinum, where N = millions of albums sold. Note this is a US site, world wide sales not included, also not every albums is rated. But it is official RIAA for what it is worth. Wendell 23:44, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

What's with this South African single release of "Infatuation"? I've heard nothing of it. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 02:14, August 19, 2005 (UTC)

I really think a source needs to be given for these worldwide album sales i don't believe she sold 5 million of her spanish album when she only sold 600,000 here. I also don't believe she sold 16 million on her debut album when the figures i heard they were only 12 million. can some one please provide a source for her worldwide album sales?

There are so many articles that have this problem; this, the Mariah Carey and Madonna articles are three of the ones that have it the worst. The sales of their albums are blown so out of proportion and most have only "sources" that are clearly fansites. Indeed, there's no way that Xtina's Spanish album even sold one million copies worldwide since it flopped in every other major music market outside the U.S. Same goes for the Christmas album, which only receieved certification for sales in the U.S. Triggy 02:30, 28 September 2005 (UTC)

I also have to disagree on her Mi Reflejo album according to RIAA it hasn't receieved ANY awards. Not gold, platinum or multiplatinum. I tried and checked RIAA's searchable database and came up with nothing.

Don't judge that if you don't know anything Triggy. Her Spanish Album has been sold well in Latin America. The highest sales in Mexico for that year. If her Spanish flopped why the hell did she record for the new Spanish Album right now. And her Spanish Album sale surpassed 3 million since 2001 according to
BMG releases Christina's sales figures

On August 30, 2001, BMG

International released Christina's sales figures to date. She has now sold 23 million CDs and singles. This is a cumulative figure encompassing sales of: 'Christina Aguilera' (12 million), 'Mi Reflejo' (3 million), 'My Kind of Christmas' (3 million), and singles from all three albums (5 million).

Christina's actual sales figures exceed the numbers reported here since this cumulative figure does not include sales of soundtracks on which she has been featured, pop compilations, special releases such as the Sears singles, or collaborations such as 'Lady Marmalade,' 'Nobody Wants To Be Lonely,' and 'What's Going On.'

- Billboard Magazine

This was released before Stripped so how much do u guys think that she has sold now???

http://www.bignoisenow.com/christina/billboardcharts1a.html - Her old official site.

And how could Triggy said that there's no way that Xtina's Spanish album even sold one million copies worldwide
  • Christina's Latin album sold 600,000 not 3 million. that is something that needs to be put in her sales article! This now makes alot more sense. Genie In A Bottel sold 12 million, My Kind Of Christmas sold 3 million as did her spanish record. that makes 18 million not 30 million. Stripped does anyone have any sale figures from Stripped? her single sales are 5 million from Genie to My Kind Of Christmas
    • Many recent articles told her first album sold 16 million.(8 million US,8 million outside US which is possible. If we look at tons of singer, their albums sold a lot more worldwide(except US)than in the US.

Example - Mariah Carey

First album - 9 US, 9 outside US Emotions - 5 US, 9 outside US Music Box - 10 US , 20 outside US Daydream - 10 US, 15 outside US Butterfly - 5 US, 12 outside Us

...So i think it's impossible for Christina's first album to be sold like - 8 US, 4 outside US.--->>it doesn't make sense that her sale in US alone exceeds her sales outside US. I may say - 8 US, 8 outside US (16 million like many recent articles said now) is a lot more possible.

  • Mariah Carey's album sales were high because of they were released in the 90's also i don't think you can compare Mariah's album sales to christina's because mariah is alot more popular then she is and has more hit records then she does. I doubt Christina sold 16 million worldwide and i would really like to see a source that states she sold 16 million worldwide because i have never heard that figure EVER before. Also the U.S. is one of the biggest markets in the world i don't think Christina's album really took of or did as well as it did domestically as it did internationally. But if a source is given it would confirm an one who is skeptical.
This arguement is getting tired. There is no way of determing EXACT worldwide sales figures for any album or single, that much is certain. However, with accurate official sources and databanks, there are ways to get estimates. For instance, for the Britney Spears' discography article, I researched OFFICIAL websites to find her sales certifications in some of the biggest music markets of the world. These areas include:
United States: RIAA (http://www.riaa.com/) / BMG Music Club (http://www.mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=47877)
Europe: IFPI (http://www.ifpi.org/)
Canada: CRIA (http://www.cria.ca/)
Australia: ARIA (http://www.aria.com.au/index.htm)
Now, I realize that these four regions donnot make up the entire world, but what they do make up is a large chunk of the international music market.
Through use of these websites, Xtina's sales look something like this:
Christina Aguilera
RIAA (U.S.): 8x Platinum: 8.1 Million copies sold through SoundScan (Source: http://www.billboardradiomonitor.com/radiomonitor/search/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000800457) and 935,000 copies sold through the BMG Music Club. Combined, that brings the total sales of the album to 9.035 million copies sold in the United States.
IFPI (Europe): Platinum: 1 Million
CRIA (Canada): 6x Platinum: 600,000
ARIA (Australia): Platinum: 70,000
Total Sales from Selected Regions: 10.705 Million
As you can see from this display, the Christina Aguilera album sold extremely well in North America, but not so much outside of that country. This is why I highly doubt the record sold 16 million worldwide.
My Kind of Christmas
RIAA (U.S.): Platinum: 1 Million
IFPI (Europe): Uncertified
CRIA (Canada): Uncertified
ARIA (Australia): Uncertified
Total Sales from Selected Regions: 1 Million
This album sold virtually nothing outside of the U.S.
Mi Reflejo
RIAA (U.S.): 3x Platinum: 600,000 (Note: Mi Reflejo is a Spanish-language album, so the level of sales for certification is different than those of standard, English-language albums.)
IFPI (Europe): Uncertified
CRIA (Canada): Uncertified
ARIA (Australia): Uncertified
Total Sales from Selected Regions: 600,000
Again, nothing in these markets outside of the U.S.
Stripped
RIAA (U.S.): 4x Platinum: 4 Million
IFPI (Europe): 3x Platinum: 3 Million
CRIA (Canada): 2x Platinum: 200,000
ARIA (Australia): 4x Platinum: 280,000
Total Sales from Selected Regions: 7.48 Million
Again, I know that these four market DO NOT make up the entire music industry, but they do make up a large chunk. The areas that I'm missing official information from are Brasil, Japan and Mexico. I know for a fact that Xtina does not sell well in Japan, and pretty much the only American artist that has ever sold well in Asia is Mariah Carey.
Also, to compare Xtina's sales with Mariah's is unfair; firstly, as previously mentioned, most of Mariah's albums were released in the '90s, a decade where records sold way more copies than they do in now in the '00s, which is when the majority of Xtina's albums were releaed. Secondly, only with Stripped has Christina begun to sell extremely well outside of the U.S.; before that, only her self-titled debut even sold moderately well internationally. On the other hand, Mariah has been a huge seller internationally for years. Triggy 16:53, 4 October 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for your time. :)

Being from Western Pennsylvania, we get a lot of Christina a lot of the time, it seems she is in Pittsburgh at least three or four times a year with her family on her mothers side as well as old High School friends (though North Allegheny wasn't all that kind to her overall). The first time I ever heard of her being claimed by the maritimes in Canada is when I read it here.

The Newfoundland information came from the "A Star is Made" book, so is much of the early years section. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 11:12, August 3, 2005 (UTC)

To be honest my first impression of that was that it was an oversight and bogus, it is very true that her mother and father met in that region, but nothing I have ever seen places her there or any of her current roots there. New York and Staten Island does have a legit claim to her as a "hometown girl" however I haven't seen much to indicate that she has any personal link to metro NYC other then it was the place of her birth and infant years.

There isn't any other connections to other cities, with the exception of moving to Wexford from some other city which bullied Christina. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 11:12, August 3, 2005 (UTC)

I realize that the fractured relationship between her mom and dad and the fact that her fathers work required him to move around alot. In families that experience that there is a "hometown" although they might be away from it "city-hopping" for years at a time. Any insight on this would be much appreciated. If there are current ties for Christina in other cities outside of Los Angeles and Pittsburgh, I'm very interested in learning more.

I left some links on my most recent edit for this entry to stories of her donations to Pittsburgh area police departments for upgrades, her visits and donations to Pittsburgh area abuse shelters and children shelters, her "homecoming" concerts to metro Pittsburgh, and her family's residing in the Pittsburgh area still. Although it is covered in her early years, I feel that some additional information is needed in order to correct any perception that Pittsburgh was just another temporary home on her way to stardom, one that makes little if any impact in her present life.

I think the article If you have some info which can be verified, by all means add it. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 11:12, August 3, 2005 (UTC)

Nothing could be more contrary to reality, although it will never take the place of Los Angeles to her, Pittsburgh in many ways is still "home" for her.

I feel that unless there is a tie to the Canadian maritimes in her current life or a strong one just a few years ago, the description of her "from there" is a false one. I am very open minded about that, just never heard of that tie before for her. Pittsburgh can claim many that had their parents meet here, Bob Hope proposed to his wife in Pittsburgh, Bob Hope is in no way "from Pittsburgh" though. Please inform me if there is a strong relationship between her and Canada. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 172.169.186.41 (talk • contribs) 05:57, 3 August 2005 (UTC)

Song article infoboxes

Infoboxes for songs are to follow a specific color scheme. Infoboxes for singles are yellow, and album tracks are orange; light blue and the like are not to be used. For more information, see the Wikipedia:WikiProject Songs. This is being posted here because several (most?) of the articles for this artist's songs are improperly formatted. --FuriousFreddy 17:31, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

  • Done. But there's two problems. One is already addressed at the Project talk page, I'm not clear if "Airplay Only" constitutes as a "commercial single", which is coded in Yellow. The other problem is I don't think some of these are actually accurate. I remember "Fighter" was released as a single, but it says airplay only. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 01:45, August 25, 2005 (UTC)
    • Billboard now treats Airplay only singles as singles. As a basic rule of thumb, if it had a full music video, give it a yellow box. Otherwise, give it an orange one. --FuriousFreddy 12:45, 29 August 2005 (UTC)

Weird probably useless bit of trivia

I noticed, she was born ten days after John Lennon died. Does that count for anything? I'd've put it in the trivia section, and let it be deleted by whoever will now maybe ignore this (go ahead, I've got nothing set over this), but I guess here it is. Do with it whatever you like.

WAS 00:57, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

P.S.--For really useless trivia: I'm writing this five days before the 25th anniversary of Lennon's death (surprise, John!). Is that even more useless, or what?

P.P.S.--If you actually thought for anything more than ten seconds over the above P.S., you really need to sort out your life. Good luck!

Being born a certain number of days before or after something doesn't count as trivia in my opinion. If she had been born on the same day, it might qualify. I do, however, think it might be a good idea to add a trivia section. I wanted to add a note somewhere about Elvis Costello doing a cover of "Beautiful" for House, but since I know nothing else about Christina that would fit in the trivia section, I didn't want to add the section and leave only that one small tidbit in there. - Ugliness Man 12:38, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Name Change

I was thinking that it is probably better to initially state her (in the introduction) as Christina Maria Bratman (professionally known by her maiden name of Christina Aguilera) etc. or something similar.

I'm not suggesting that the article be moved (it would have to stay as Aguilera since that's how she is professionally-known), but I think it's much more specific and better to state her proper name initially.

I'll add it now, but please reply to this before editing.

Thanks.

Leon.

Has she officially taken on the name, legally speaking? Links?

Deathrocker 22:35, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Yes. Outside of work, she is known as Christina Bratman, but as link shows, will remain as Christina Aguilera professionally.
Leon.
as for standards with other articles, after reading through WP:MOS they have no clear guidelines about birth names, but they suggest using a person's birthname if they are most well known by it. This seems to be the standard with other articles such as Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston, who both changed their legal names but not their professional name.--Fallout boy 20:18, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
Yes. I also read on it, but it seems to me the best one (even to Wikipedia) is to state their current legal name, and then in brackets (as I did) to state the name they are famous by.
I still think this is better.

Cypriot stud 21:28, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

This violates the principle of least surprise and is anyway pointless. Her legal name is of no interest at all and barely even warrants a mention in the article. Morwen - Talk 10:26, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
Agreed. The name people expect is still "Aguilera", and "Bratman" should be the side note. There needs to always be a tremendously clear note that this is in fact "C. Aguilera", even if the legal name goes first. Gspawn 19:57, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

WHICH 'E'?

Hey, I haven't heard the song but when it says "In 1998, she sung the High "E" note an octave above middle "C"" I'm pretty sure that should be the third 'E' above middle C, cause saying high E above middle C kind of implies the second see which really isn't all that impressive. I can't verify this now but considering that a normal E is noth worth mentioning and that on the 'Stripped' album she score a high 'F' (the third 'F' above middle C) then I'm gonna go make the change.

Its the second E (E5). The third E is three ledger lines above the staff. What the Cinderella-esque High E doesn't say (but implies) is that the heads of Disney were looking for a singer who could belt the High E. Many people can sing a High E, even untrained baritones. But singing the note in chest voice is another story. It takes a well-trained and rangy voice to be able to sing that high in chest voice, without flipping into head register and most of all without cracking, since the belting requires forceful vocals. Disney heads were looking for a young (Disney-aged) female vocalist with a "Whitney" voice. Most young female vocalist can't belt a note like that. Also, they didn't want to pay the money for a more established vocalist (ala Deborah Cox or Tamia), so Christina Aguilera got her BIG break. Antares33712 04:59, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Image at the top of the page

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the picture at the top of the page correctly illustrates what Christina looks like now, as her hair is much shorter and is pretty much back to it's original color now. Maybe it should be replaced with a more current photo? Just a suggestion. -WikiFiend90 19:57, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Seventh octave wonders

Christina Aguilera/Archive 2 does not belong in Category: Seventh octave wonders. The intro on the category reads:

"This category is for singers who are notable in their gifts in the whistle register. Singers added to this subcategory should be well-known for their abilities and have multiple recordings to demonstrate this."

Aguiler does not fit this criterion. She is not well known for siging in the 7th octave. The anonymous editor who keeps replacing her keeps asserting that she does it in the Christmas song, but a) that is just one song, (not multiple) and fails at the criteria, b) no source are cited for the alleged 7th octave note in the song. You can't listen and assume that it's in the 7th octave. See Wikipedia's official policy, Wikipedia:No original research. c) Christina Aguiler is not well-known for singing in the 7th octave. In fact, no authoritative source have ever claimed this (as they have done for Mariah Carey et at). I'm of the strong belief that she cannot even sing whistle register; she merely squeals on the correct note. Oran e (t) (c) (e) 00:33, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Isn't the seventh octave consisting of C7 and above? Christina's highest note is a C7... she wouldn't be a seventh octave wonder. However she does sing whistle register in at least two songs (Carwash and What a Girl Wants) and was said to hit every riff and note (including Mariah's whistle) when she performed Vision of Love in 1990. Considering that her voice hasn't dropped that much and she has had vocal training, it is safe to say that she can sing the whistle register rather than squeal it... she holds the notes in Carwash and What A Girl.

Age

In response to this edit. Why would she claim to be born in 1980 if she was really born in 1981? If anything, pop stars and other entertainers want to be as young as possible. I'm curios how this user could have accessed her birth certificate (if he or she actually did), since those usually aren't accessible. I checked on ussearch.com, as there is a Christina Marie Aguilera having resided in NY and CA, age 25. --Fallout boy 00:44, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

The Madonna kiss

In the description of the famed kiss with Madonna the word "lesbian" was used as a descriptor. I thought this was a little bit offensive and unnecessary as no one would ever comment on a kiss by describing it as a "heterosexual kiss" so I removed it.

German origin?

What is the source for her German maternal ancestry? I couldn't find a single website that said anything other than Irish. Also, is it true that her mother isn't Canadian? It used to be in the article but isn't anymore... MadJack 02:58, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

OK, never mind, I looked up the Christina book on Amazon [2], and it has more info on the subject. I'll flesh it out in the article. MadJack 03:07, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Excuse me it was stated on her E! special that her father was Ecudarian.

Her mother has said that part of her family is German. Her mother is mostly Irish however and it seems Christina doesn't recognize the German part of her ancestry, although that German/Nordic ancestry (on both sides, although her father is from Ecuador many Latin American people have Germanic blood from the Spanish Conquistidors... who were said to be blonde giants in comparison to many of the natives) is probably what gave her her blonde hair and blue eyes.

Voice Type

What voice type is Christina? I think she is a dramatic coloratura soprano. Coloratura is a the ornamentation of music written for the voice with florid passages, especially trills and runs. A coloratura soprano is a soprano specializing in coloratura. Their voices are very agile, showing this when they octave jump(Christina jumped from C5 to E♭6 to G6 during a live performance of Hello in Milan,no one can deny her voice's agility. She has performs so many difficult trills before)and can access at least F6 (Christina hit F6 in Car Wash, and F#6 in Soar). She also seems to hit her G6's and G#6's with ease when she performs WAGW. I've also heard her do A#6 during WAGW and she hit C7 in The Christmas Song. So that is why I think she is a dramatic coloratura soprano like Mariah(Well, at least I think she is some kind of coloratura).

  • The A6..was it on one of her DVD's? I have both and in one performance of WAGW it certainly sounds like in one performance the note is higher than the other but i dont know if that's the note ur refering to...

Multi-racial?

What's more multi-racial about her, the blonde hair or the blue eyes?. Come on, this woman is obviously a Caucasian!. Her father is of Spanish descent, and the last time I checked Spain was still in Europe. People need to realize that South America is full of European immigrants, and the people who live there are not necessarily members of another race. Aoa8212 10:22, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Christina's family is mostly dark haired, dark eyed people, especially her father's side. Although one of her paternal uncles is also blonde/blue eyed. She identifies herself as a Latina, which is considered by many to be a different racial/ethnic category. Her father is, like many in South America, descended from a mix of indigious people and Spanish conquistors... the genetic material for blonde/ blue existed on both sides of her family.

plus, christina dyes her hair blonde, her hair is a mousy blonde/brown naturally, but she still dyes it, plus she wears blue contact lenses, her eyes are more greyish, anyone of any race could dye their hair blonde and wear blue contact lenes....that doesnt make them caucasian...plus just because her father is from ecuador, that doesnt mean he is 'white' or 'european' 100%, here is a quote from the article on ecuador, about the ethnic mix in the country:

'Ecuador's population is ethnically diverse. The largest ethnic group is comprised of Mestizos, the mixed descendants of Spanish colonists and indigenous Amerindians, who constitute just over 65% of the population. Amerindians are second in numbers and account for approximately a quarter of the current population, around 25%. Whites are mainly criollos, primarily of Spanish descent, and account for 7%. The small Afro-Ecuadorian minority — including Mulattos and zambos — constitutes the remainder.'

see, they are not all white, most are in fact mixed-race, and only 7% are actually 'white', maybe you should do more reaserch bfore you label somone as 'caucasian' when, as somone else said, she doesnt even identify as caucasian herself, she identifies as latina, and it is very, very likely that she is multi racial. most people see latina/o or 'hispanic' as a different race than caucasian

  • Firstly Latina does not refer to a race. Simply that you are from "Latin america" ect. Secondly your agument about her eye and hair color is stupid. She does not wear blue contacts. Besides blue and grey eyes are both European traits so who cares. Why are you even having this argument. Just because someone is from Equador doesn't mean he is non-white. Get proof if you want to place crazy ideas here. She is not multi-racial until her fathers "race" is determined. Don't come with theories or ideas. Only facts.

Who is the better singer?

watch as i spark an argument, who is a better singer, christina aguilera or britney spears?

Christina but Britney have a better career.--hottie 19:51, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Britney doesn't have a career. That ended three years ago.

Huh? Toxic/Everytime was released in 2004, Greatest hits in 2005 and 2 music vids in 2006 how can it be three years ago--LooseTheHotButtonS 05:36, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Toxic came out in early 2004. That truly was the end for her. Everything else pretty much flopped, including her album, and her tour that year. Britney fell off every list just two years later. We all know she's done. Christina is actually a true artist who lives for her craft and likes to try and experiment with new things. She takes her career very seriously. She doesn't clutter up the music world with one album after the next, and she actually writes her own material. 68.46.186.126 08:40, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
After Toxic, Everytime was #1 in UK and reached Top 20 in U,S. Who have more singles, albums, musicvids, who shine in the "Madonna Kiss" , which marriage is more popular, and of course who sold the most who else it's all Britney. Who topped the Yahoo search last year it's Britney again where's Christina???.--LooseTheHotButtonS 11:19, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Yahoo? No one uses that. It's all about Google, and that was Janet Jackson at #1 last year. Britney is completely over. Everyone in the industry knows it. She fell off every list, including this year's FHM's Sexiest 100. She even got the boot from her record label. The public had enough. The UK is not the US. Christina is bigger than Britney is the UK. That is a fact. She's a household name over there. Christina did not have an album to promote, and knows when to get out of the spotlight before the public has had enough. Britney didn't know when to stop, and now she's a walking trainwreck. Her children aren't going to leave, and pop stars and babies don't mix, unless you have a few decades under your belt, proven yourself as an artist and have crossed over decades. Britney had 15 minutes, and she ended up exactly as we all knew she would. She's a laughing stock, and all that's left is to rescue those children from her now. Singing like a fourteen year old, with a stuffed up nose, with stretch marks, a gut, baby after baby, and on your way to 30, is not attractive, and the public will never buy it. She has no one to blame but herself. And marriage? Britney's marriage is the most disgusting! Baby daddy, no job, her supporting his other kids. Popular? It's popular beacause it's trash. One magazine I just saw called them the Beverely Hillbillies, with Britney driving down the street with her kid lumped over the side in the backset, with curlers in her hair, and then she almost dropped the kid this week. The public just doesn't like her. Magazines report every so often about what screw up she did next. That's basically it. She's no Lindsay, or Paris, or Jessica, or Ashlee.Maddyfan 12:11, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
No one uses Yahoo??? the majority of e-mails are from Yahoo and it's not just search engine like google. Janet Jackson number-one last year??? you're totally wrong it's Britney. Boot from her record??? her album is not coming because she is always pregnant not because Jive fired her. Xtina bigger than Brit in UK??? who have more number-one/top ten hits. How funny what Maddyfan wrote, she's definitely no lindsay, paris, jessica, ashlee or your xtina simply because she sold more albums, sold more singles, the only girl who have number one single in Billboard except for xtina, not an attention seeker like JESSICA!!! oh crap, not in the "Stupid Girls" music video. It's funny how people/media/jealous ppls react to big/popular celebrities (even they don't have a project) in their personal life specially in their family and comparing it to the second rated artists It's just stupid. If the public doesn't like her, she's already like the Dixie Chicks.--LooseTheHotButtonS 14:04, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

If you define better as technical skill... Christina, with her four octave range, destroys dear Britney. Utterly and completely. Popularity is a different story, Britney does tend to be in the public eye more and so seems more popular but is more for her or her husband's screw-ups than for her artistic work. Christina tends to stay out of the limelight until she has something to do. Also Christina has had more #1s (Genie, What a Girl, Come on Over, Lady Marmalade and in some charts, Beautiful) than Britney in the US and UK. Britney has had more top ten hits, mainly because she had twice as many mainstream albums. However it is true Christina is much more popular outside the US than Britney is... look at percentage of record sales, like half of Stripped was from outside the country, what was the outside of US sales percentage of Britney's In the Zone? But this question is a silly one, anyone who is trained in music will tell you that Christina is by far the better singer of the two.

Does people really care about the voice??? it's more about the looks and charisma look what happened to American Idol winners Kelly and the 4th winner the only winners that still have a career. Like I said before Xtina is a better singer of course but admit it Britney's career is way higher and better than any other twenty+ female artist. And Xtina managed to get 4 number ones oh good job for her but she could not sell tickets to her tour?. Britney does tend to be in the public eye because the crazy media and paparazzi keep following her it also mean if you have paparazzi following you around/ media keep speculating about ur career/personal life You're a big star not other artists paying for press just to be in the tabloids and wannabe popular if you know who I'm talking about (not Xtina).--LooseTheHotButtonS 16:42, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Christina Aguilera's last tour, Stripped, sold out in over 90% of the venues it played at and with Justin Timberlake's Justified Tour it was voted the best tour of 2003 by Rolling Stone magazine readers. Christina sells arenas out. There was talk that her 2004 Summer tour with Chingy was cancelled because of poor sales, but that has been, so far, unproven. More than likely the fact that the album would have been two years old and Christina's suffering of vocal strain were the reasons the tour was cancelled. However would the originator of this topic define "better"... you would get answers that are not based on musical tastes.

Picture

Can we get a more upto-date picture of Christina?... the current one is from 2003, her hair isn't even that colour anymore. - Deathrocker 15:45, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Christina Aguilera's vocal range

i just wanna clarify christina aguilera's vocal range. her lowest note is C3 while her highest note is C#7. so her vocal range is C3-C#7 that means 4 octaves and a half note. people who say she isn't able to sing in the seventh octave make a big mistake cause she is. she sang her C#7 at the end of The christmas song while she sings her C3 in few songs like Walk away...... if we talk about her live range it is C3-A6 that means 3 octaves and 5 notes. she sang her C3s in few performances of at last and she sang her A6 in a Por siempre tu performance. To be honest i think that chrstina can sing her famous C#7 even live but she never did it cause she didn't wanted to. we can just wait for her next album and tour to see if she will do that note live. if you look at some you tube videos you will understand that i'm saying the truth. look at these videos: [1], [2], [3].
