Per WP:MOSLEAD, the intro paragraph should be "a summary of its most important contents". This article doesn't have a LEAD - the first paragraph is just basic early-life facts. It should say, very basically, who Hoffmann was and why he's notable. I don't know enough about the subject domain to write one myself (the article says a bunch of what he did, but I don't know which is the most noteworthy parts). I'd guess it'd read something like:
Christoph Hoffmann ... was a German theologian, writer, and religious philosopher, who ...
