Hard to find any good sources on this, [1] is the best I found. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:11, 30 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I suggest that for consistency this article should be "Cultural depictions of Christopher Marlowe". PatGallacher (talk) 19:15, 30 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have no strong opinion on that, but the "in fiction" form is not uncommon: [2]. And it fits the content until someone adds stuff like music, paintings and statues. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:58, 30 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
None of these refer to a specific person in fiction. PatGallacher (talk) 13:40, 31 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ronald Reagan in fiction, Christopher Columbus in fiction, some absolutely do. "Cultural depictions of" articles/sections also exist, and it's a common category. Another version is Donald Trump in popular culture, I'm sure there's others. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:41, 31 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
...though the Columbus-article should really be named "Cultural depictions". Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 16:14, 31 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Leabhróg, and welcome to Wikipedia! Though judging by your impressive edit, you may have edited here before? I have 2 musings on your very interesting addition.

  • "1895, he found his way into fiction." This doesn't make sense to me per 1825, 1837 etc (drama is a kind of fiction).
  • "Although numerous authors have since had Marlowe appear in a wide variety of literary genres, this has been done with astonishing unimaginativeness." It's a strong statement, and makes me wonder [according to whom?] Would you consider adding in-text attribution? "is usually the homosexual outsider" may very well be true enough. It's not always the case, like with Tim Downie's heterosexual insider.

Minor thing: Worldcat is not a very useful url for a book-cite. When the cite has an isbn, the isbn becomes a link that gets you worldcat and other stuff. And when you cite books, if possible, include pagenumbers. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:03, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Also, Marlowepedia [3] is not a WP:RS, please replace or exclude content from it. And "Riba, Elisabeth. "Marlowe in Modern Fiction" appears to be a WP:BLOG. Liked her comparison of Marlowe portrait (well, you know) and Johnny Depp. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:13, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Annoyed that I can't find an accessible version of Tucker's "Dead Men in Deptford". Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:50, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
