a parody band
edit- Is Chromeo a parody band? I have watched their videos on YouTube and they seem to be parodying many 1980s electrofunk conventions in a humorous fashion (such as overusing the talk box), not to mention their videos all have a humorous "non-serious" bent to them. They don't seem to give the impression that they're really being serious. --Section8pidgeon 10:11, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- They seem serious to me. They just have a sense of humor about it- you have to admit that the style and tone of the time period which they emulate was rather ridiculous. I don't know many joke bands that produce as good an album as Fancy Footwork. I feel like it's more of a "What happened to music like that? Let's bring it back." sort of thing- just as much as various "The _____" bands have brought back the lo-fi 70's garage band sound.--C.Logan 17:14, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- Chromeo are very silly but they are not a parody band... no parody could ever make such fantastic music. 70.24.198.37 (talk) 03:43, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
A tad... subjective?
editNotable quotes that don't really suit wikipedia:
"But with heavy hooks and heartfelt songs like these, their "scholarship" is the opposite of egg-headed." "When listening to this CD, it's easy to get tricked into thinking it's the 80's all over again"
And my personal favourite, hilarious, but very inappropriate:
"The 80's Canadian tracks they chose to remix are obscure enough that even people from Quebec haven't heard of them." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.24.149.48 (talk) 23:02, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Agreed, the page needs a complete rewrite. It sounds as though it was written by a fanboy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.250.95.216 (talk) 07:14, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
I would question most of the claims made by this article. I removed one that claimed our radio station had a Chromeo "power hour". SOmeone connected to this band has been vandalizing other wiki pages to add references back to this group. And really, part of the Columbia University wiki project? really? 209.128.8.150 (talk) 12:25, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Chromeo discography
editSupport split - Discography section takes up more than one third of the page, and should be split to a new article entitled Chromeo discography. --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:36, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
New Section: "Sexuality in Music and Videos"
editHi, new editor here. I think themes of sexuality in Chromeo music videos are worth including in this article. I found the following third-party sources to support some additions I would like to make:
"Our mission is to portray relationships from a variety of humorous perspectives. We actually make it a point to remind interviewers that our music isn’t even heteronormative. These power struggles can apply to any type of relationship." - Macklovitch
"I think for us, the idea is just to do weirder things - it's sexy but in a very, very non-traditional way. It's sexy-quirky or sexy avant-garde. The album cover shows both of us marrying the same girl, it's called White Women and clearly the woman is not white. We just play with sexual signifiers instead of exploiting them." - Macklovitch

Does it make sense to create a such section in this article? Or what's the best way to include this? Thanks Mbkg1002 (talk) 02:25, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Dave 1 still French Lecturer at Barnard?
editI see that he is listed as a lecturer in French, but it looks like that was only current as of 2010 and I'm not sure how long that part of his career went on for. Is he still teaching? Mayawagon (talk) 14:31, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
