Introduction - restrict discussion to acquired 5q- deletions
edit"5q- syndrome" is an inexact (but often used) term which only refers to the acquired deletions of 5q commonly seen in myelodysplastic syndrome, a hematological ("prelukemia") disorder. And MDS is not rare.
