Why was this page moved?
editWhen I first created this article, it was known as "Chronological list of French classical composers". It appears that someone arbitrarily moved it to its current title, without recognizing the fact that the old title itself was actually consistent with other names of chronological lists, including those of composers of other nationalities and those of other topics as well.
If no one has a legitimate explanation, within one week, as to why this new title of the article should stay, I'll proceed to restore the old title by moving it back. Thank you, and good day to you all! Classicalfan626 (talk) 21:09, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
- Time's up! Since I have not gotten any explanation at all within a week, I shall now proceed to move the article back to its original title. Sorry people! Classicalfan626 (talk) 02:26, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oops! It seems there was an error moving the page. I will now proceed to take this to Requested moves. Hopefully, we'll move the page back. Classicalfan626 (talk) 02:35, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: consensus to move the page, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 02:14, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
List of French classical composers (chronological) → Chronological list of French classical composers – A while ago, another Wikipedian has arbitrarily moved this page I created from its original title to its current. Please take a look at the first post in the topic above for my rationale. Also note that there are examples of Wikipedia articles with a similar title, such as Chronological list of LPGA major golf champions, Chronological list of Gustav Klimt's main paintings, and Chronological list of saints in the 7th century. --Relisted. - Support as per Category:Lists of composers by nationality and WP:CONSISTENCY. Gregkaye ✍♪ 04:21, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
- Comment. I have left a message at WT:MOSSAL asking for input. Dekimasuよ! 21:50, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
- Support. Old title was informative, consistent with other list titles and not in contravention of any policy. Current title contains unnecessary parentheses, which are generally considered a Bad Thing. Scolaire (talk) 23:12, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
- Support for consistency and because "List of French classical composers (chronological)" is kind of awkward and the proposed title isn't. Egsan Bacon (talk) 14:34, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- Support - citing WP:NATURAL here is weird, but hey, so is the current title Red Slash 05:24, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Chopin?
editAm I wrong in thinking that Frédéric Chopin lived and worked in France? He seems an extremely odd omission from this list. Scolaire (talk) 23:18, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
- I agree. I shall add him right away. Classicalfan626 (talk) 23:08, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
