Full flavored cigarettes / Lights (cigarette type)

At Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2018 June 9#Full flavored cigarettes it has been suggested that Lights (cigarette type) might be expanded slightly to cover other types of cigarettes with which lights are/were contrasted. Your comments there would be very welcome. Thryduulf (talk) 07:24, 10 June 2018 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Cigarette

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Cigarette's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 15:31, 15 June 2019 (UTC)

Non-Encyclopedic tone

The discussion of health effects takes a non-encyclopedic tone because the topic is one of political contention, and as a result of that political contention both sides of the issue are not accurately represented. It is therefore my opinion that the article should be modified to remove all references to health effects or else modified to comply with the stated policy concerning Encyclopedic tone such as to prevent wikipedia being used for the purpose of political propaganda. 71.91.178.54 (talk) 02:44, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

The introduction seems to be straight nico-nazi propaganda and plain wrong in places. It might fit in Health effects or Smoking cessation but it would still need corrections and citations. Ampwright (talk) 00:01, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
Even as an ex-smoker - usually the most evangelical opponents to smoking - I was taken aback by the biased descriptions given in the introduction. The introduction goes straight from describing the concept of a cigarette in the abstract into a tirade about the worst possible specific instances of their construction. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.3.78.141 (talk) 22:37, 14 August 2019 (UTC)

It makes sense to retain some mention of health effects. Doing so is not necessarily political, e.g., the introduction to the wikipedia entry on arsenic mentions that it's poisonous.(DrNicotiana (talk) 19:36, 17 July 2019 (UTC))

Modern sigarettes ..

They have ability - at now they are with non stoping fire part.

That is why we have necessary as separation burning part (take out) (from) of sigarette and only after that do stoping fire.

"F*g"

The colloquial British term "f*g" as a synonym for cigarette should be mentioned somewhere in the article. The disambiguation page for f*g does mention this, but it's nowhere to be found here.

(Sorry about the censorship—Wikipedia flags this potentially offensive term as indicative of an unhelpful edit and disallows publishing.) 2601:3CA:204:F860:4DEB:52C8:7CB0:F598 (talk) 08:10, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

edit request per MOS:REALTIME

article says

Australia is cutting their overall smoking consumption faster than most of the developed world, in part due to landmark Plain Packaging Act, which standardized the appearance of cigarette packs. Other countries have considered similar measures. In New Zealand, a bill has been presented to parliament in which the government's associate health minister said "takes away the last means of promoting tobacco as a desirable product."[132]

Cite is from 2014 ( https://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/12/business/international/australias-graphic-cigarette-pack-warnings-appear-to-work.html )

Per MOS:REALTIME we should update / rephrase this.

Graphic Warnings

Germany also has pictures in addition to text on their cigarette packs. An interesting note may also be that the German government has been sued at least twice for using images of corpses either without permission or of non smokers to portray smoking deaths. Section about smoking cessation

The section about smoking cessation mentions nicotine replacement therapy, and Varenicline, but does not mention Bupropion, another drug commonly prescribed to aid smoking cessation. The article is locked, so there is no way for me to add this information. Does the fact that Buproprion is a generic drug, while Varenicline's patent is still valid, have anything to do with this article being locked?

Wikipedia is no longer an unbiased, (or accurate), source in the least, which is sad.

What do you mean, ‘no longer’? 2A01:4C8:1163:7CDB:E40C:3BEC:96E0:A239 (talk) 13:00, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

Construction

Tobacco blend,

This section appears to refer entirely to U.S. made cigarettes. E.g. Canadian cigarettes are almost exclusively Brightleaf Virginia and differ in additives and emissions.[1] Cigarettes in other countries are also markedly different in constituents from North American cigarettes, e.g. French Gauloises & Gitanes. The subsection should either make clear that it refers only to U.S. cigarettes, or be expanded to include other, representative countries. - D Anthony Patriarche (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 05:20, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

Cigarette butt

This term is largely restricted to North America. The equivalent in British English is 'cigarette end' or 'dog end'. I'm unsure of usage in other Anglophone countries. --Ef80 (talk) 10:42, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
