Experimental/Progressive?
editWill anyone explain to me why they think this band is experimental and progressive? Sure they have a few 5/4 and 7/8 time signatures, some atmospheric guitar work, and like one synthesizer part, but does that really make them experimental or progressive. I would love some examples. 76.27.70.228 (talk) 18:12, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
I agree- Why are they listed as progressive? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.81.19.153 (talk) 05:57, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
I concur. There is very little in their music that would warrant being listed as a progressive band. They're more post-hardcore than anything else, really. Deveh (talk) 05:58, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Emo...
editYeah... definitely get rid of this asap. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.101.166.64 (talk) 22:08, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree. Circa Survive is in no way "emo" so get rid of this, please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.96.147.189 (talk) 04:21, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I agree with the idea that the majority of their music may not be "Emo", but I disagree with the idea that this does not fit at all. The song "Get Out" is a good example.
Vandalism
editThere's a lot of it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.109.181.154 (talk) 23:58, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Juturna opened to harsh criticism?

Prog rock
editThey're considered crossover prog. They are mainstream with elements of Prog rock. And please remove the emo title. They aren't emo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.168.183.96 (talk) 00:18, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Genre
editI fail to see the band as "emo" or "post-hardcore". Bands that fall under these genres are of the punk persuasion, respectively. Circa Survive's genre seems to be a topic of discussion, but I think we should start sourcing the genres on the page. If anyone can find a sensible source claiming them to be emo or post-hardcore, please provide it on the page. Thanks, TomUSA 22:37, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
I found an interesting interview with Vice here that includes both post-hardcore and emo. "Their music was not only genre-bending – dancing somewhere between psychedelia, post-hardcore and emo – but Anthony Green’s high-pitched, almost-feminine vocals captured the vulnerability of what it feels like to have a war going on in your head, without much of the toxic, macho-ridden inhibitions that plagued the Warped Tour scene." This second one is a direct quote from Anthony Green in the same interview classifying "Blue Sky Noise" as psychedelic punk: "So let’s try and make the coolest psychedelic punk record that they’ll let us put out."
