Malham Cove
editIs Malham Cove a cirque? If not, why not. Compare and distinguish? Cutler (talk) 15:02, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- Seems you would simply need to find a WP:RS for such, rather than some WP:OR re: the Compare and distinguish bit. Vsmith (talk) 16:00, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- The origin of the cove is clearly explained in the article, it was formed during the last ice age but by water not ice. Mikenorton (talk) 20:32, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
- Which is to say, it's a "cirque" in the French word usage sense -- Le Malham Cove est un cirque naturel du Royaume-Uni dans le parc des Yorkshire Dales -- but not in the geomorphological one. Unfortunately this page seems to started with the vague intention of being the latter in scope but, perhaps influenced by ending up at its present title cirque rather than "cwm" or "corrie", has drifted into being the former, or some unclear mashup of the two. I think perhaps a split of the two would aid clarity, but perhaps the "fluvial cirque" or "cirque (term)" article would be too brief to be seen as viable. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 06:15, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
