Talk:Cirque (disambiguation)

I don't know the Terry Carr novel --- does the title refer to either a circus or a glacial valley? If so, wouldn't it be redundant? -- hike395 01:38, 5 Aug 2003 (UTC)

All these other meanings are pretty obscure - I think the landform should "own" the unadorned term, move the rest to a cirque (disambiguation)-type page. Stan 12:59, 31 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Renaming this page

edit

The move suggested by Stan in 2004 is so long overdue. Essentially all references to "cirque" on WP refer to the landform, so this page should be moved to "Cirque (disambiguation)" and "Cirque (landform)" renamed to "Cirque". This fits the guidelines in Wikipedia:Disambiguation.

In the course of writing dozens of geological (volcano, glacier, etc.) articles recently, I've gotten so sick of having to paste in [[Cirque (landform)|cirque]] every time I need to refer to cirques. It's time this huge annoyance was ended. I'm going to go ahead and do this, since 3 yrs have passed with no dissenting opinions.
