Translation?

edit

It is my guess that at least some of this is translated or written by a person whose native language is not English, and thus there are sentences such as: "Graettinger's music (as well as Pete Rugolo, Manny Albam, William Russo, Franklyn Marks, and Shorty Rogers) involves a great departure for Kenton so to produce a new American music." and "There is a very clear connection to be made in the progress of large ensemble music that Graettinger's opus's would not just 'appear out of nowhere.' " Citations are mostly lacking, leaving me to wonder whence this comes. There is also some technical info about the music to bewilder the non-musician e.g. "the sax section juxtaposed against the straight 8th note pulse with Weidler's muscular 'Hodgesesque' lead alto". While it's possible for the average English reader to make sense of this, it is not easy reading, and it should be revised with resort to Michael Sparke's more recent book "Stan Kenton: This Is an Orchestra!", (2011, ISBN 978-1-57441-284-0). Unfortunately I no longer have that book on hand. 72.177.123.145 (talk) 13:56, 11 March 2013 (UTC) EricReply

New, added citations confirm from more recent Sparke book what is already said. I checked it with the book. Everything says the same stuff about Graettinger's impact, association with Kenton, and Bob Graettinger's life. Jcooper1 (talk) Jack

Some of the information in this article could probably be added to the Robert Graettinger article. -Ehburrus (talk) 22:54, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
