Hunting tartan
editI am sceptical of the image of the "Clan Arthur Hunting Tartan", attributed to "Wilson's '1823' sample book". I can find no mention of what this work actually was. I do not trust the source cited: http://www.tartans.scotland.net/tartan_info.cfm@tartan_id=2135.htm . Tartans.scotland.net is in the business of promoting the sale of tartan items to anyone who wants to buy them, and has little regard for authenticity.
But I am sceptical mainly because of the vivid magenta colour shown in the image. Magenta dyes that vivid were unknown before the invention of aniline dyes in 1859 (see magenta), which leads me to disbelieve the claimed 1823 date for a work I can find no trace of. Drowning of Clan Arthur
editAccording to the page on the Clan Campbell, they were rewarded for driving the Arthurs into a loch and drowning them all. Wouldn't that merit mention somewhere on this page?.45Colt 17:57, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- The Clan Campbell article says nothing about them being rewarded for drowning the Clan Arthur, but that they were pardoned for it. So in the ocrrect context, yes it coul be mentioned on the Clan Arthur page if it properly sourced.QuintusPetillius (talk) 13:15, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
Are certain famous American named MacArthur descended from this same clan?
editI'd be curious to know?--JaredMithrandir (talk) 21:33, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
