Gaelic pronunciation
editThe article states:
"actually pronounced and spelled their name M'Connall due to the Gaelic pronunciation of the name Mac Domhnuill thus giving rise to the surname McConnell and its variants."
Garbage. The D in " Mac Domhnuill " should be pronounced, furthermore the u should be an a as far as I know and thus it would be Mac Dhomnaill with the added h after the D to pronounce it as McConnell. The family of the leaders at least if not the local Islay population did pronounce it this way with Sorley Boy MacDonnell known to have signed his name Mc Conell in Engish, but that was not "the Gaelic pronunciation" at all, it was at best local, otherwise the Irish sept O' Domhnaill would be O' Onnell
