Major Overhaul
editHi there! I feel the Clan MacEwen section needs a major overhaul. I've tinkered with it before to introduce the idea that not all MacEwens are descended from Clan Ewen of Otter, but it still places way too much emphasis on this historical clan. Earlier writers (notably R. S. T. MacEwen, 1904) have claimed a link with between modern MacEwens and Clan Ewen of Otter, but have not presented evidence to support the claim. I have been researching the history of the MacEwen and Ewing names for several years. There are known origins for the MacEwen name in a medieval clan based in Galloway, in Clan Cameron and in Clan MacDougall. All these are clearly supported by evidence, but there's no clear evidence that any MacEwens are descended from Clan Ewen of Otter. I hope to get going on this some time next week (Week Starting 1 July 2013). Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you. Thor Ewing (talk) 16:26, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah same as before Thor, just make sure you add sources for all the information that you add. Thanks.QuintusPetillius (talk) 18:09, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
I have set up a new page for Clan Ewen of Otter, which incorporates text earmarked for removal from this page. This will allow the new Clan MacEwen page to better reflect the diversity of MacEwen origins, without losing information about Clan Ewen of Otter.Thor Ewing (talk) 12:53, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Clan Maclachlan
editMention is made in this article that we "follow" Clan Campbell. But the sources I have say we're with MacLachlan now. (Need to go see which books have this...) This is the arrangement at the Games I've attended.
