Lower-case letter q

I've moved the article to the spelling with a lower-case letter q because this is the way it is shown on the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs website link.--Celtus (talk) 06:10, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Agree. Clans are named after the usually named chief's spelling, in this case Macqueen. I think it is wrong for users to jump in and change the way the way people spell their name simply because they happen to have a different spelling to their name or know somebody who has a different spelling. Major re-write

This article has been tagged since 2010 as having a lack of sources/inline citations and also as having improper sources. Any unsourced info can be removed from Wikipedia without warning. Origin of the clan

This article currently cites Collins Scottish Clan & Family Encyclopedia for the claim "The MacQueens are allegedly of the same descent as the Clan Donald, having kinship with the High Kings of Ireland." However, a 1998 article by David Sellar says the MacSwans of Roag in the Hebrides "claimed to belong to the same stock as the MacLeods." (W. D. H. Sellar. "Ancestry of the MacLeods Reconsidered." Transactions of the Gaelic Society of Inverness, Vol. LV, 1997-1998, The Gaelic Society of Inverness, 2000, pp. 233-258.) I suggest replacing the current statement. I don't think it should replace the current statement but be added as an alternative theory for the origins of the clan.QuintusPetillius (talk) 16:32, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
