He did not become a member of the Academy in 1634, as the Academy was not founded until 1635 (by Cardinal Richelieu).

Born in the Ain département of France in 1585?!

Nonsense. 1. French départements were created more than 2 centuries after Vaugelas' birth. 2. Meximieux was not part of France at that time, but of the then independent Kingdom of Sardinia. Président (talk) 00:01, 12 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
