Claude Julien (ice hockey)Claude Julien – I believe people looking up Claude Julien on Wikipedia are most likely to be looking for the hockey coach and not the journalist. Statistics prove that point -- this article has been viewed 17,200 times over the last 90 days, while the other has been viewed just 241 times in the same time period. And while Claude Julien is currently a disambiguation page, I don't believe having one is necessary per WP:TWODABS. Hot Stop 03:40, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment - ...or statistics prove the current set up is working fine. Obviously a hockey coach will always get more visits than a French newspaper editor, but this is an encyclopedia and the journalist gets more coverage in Google books, particularly as at the time the leading French journalist specializing in the USA, interviewing Castro, and so on. • The coach is clearly the primary topic so I would have no problem with him being the main article per twodabs. The point of article naming is to help the majority of people find what it is they are looking for easier, and it looks like the move would help about 17,000 people every 90 days. That being said I don't think its all that big a deal. -DJSasso (talk) 14:20, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Support - per WP:PRIMARYUSAGE. The NHL ice hockey coach is clearly the primary topic (see page hits for coach[1] vs. journalist[2], and Google search[3]); the French newspaper journalist would be properly addressed with a hat note at the top of the coach's article. • Strongest possible oppose per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC's criteria of long-term significance. A current high-level participant is a popular sport will inevitably receive more page views while active, but this is an encyclopedia not a sports newspaper. I did a Google Books search, excluding both "Claude Julien Rawson" and "Jean-Claude Julien", and of the first 40 hits, only 2 refer to the hockey coach. The journalist and author is a hugely significant figure in the reportage of a widely-studied era, particularly of the Cuban revolution. He is also widely referenced in Google Scholar.
The attempt to promote the hockey caoch as the primary topic is an example not just of WP:RECENTISM, but of the well-documented systemic bias in Wikipedia towards topics which engage our predominantly young, male editors. If there is a primary topic from an encyclopedic perspective (rather than a current news perspective), then it is overwhelmingly the journalist. However, the current disambiguation setup works fine, and I see no reason to disrupt it. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 08:55, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per BrownHairedGirl. An encyclopedia should not give undue weight to topics of transient "popular" interest at the expense of serious academic scholarship; nor should it do the reverse. A disambig. page at the base title is the perfect compromise. Xoloz (talk) 03:33, 8 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • strongest possible support the only number we should consider is page views. Readers like myself consider the coach more important, the opinions of girls with brown hair don't matter. 198.228.200.45 (talk) 05:49, 8 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

66 years played at current age 56?

edit

Saw this line of text "Prior to playing in the NHL, Julien had 66 years previously played in the Ontario Hockey League", and have no idea what it is referring to, but Claude is currently only 56 years old, so it is obviously wrong. Anybody have an idea? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cllyde (talkcontribs) 22:29, 10 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
