Merger discussion

edit

The article on the Clitorians proper can probably be merged with this one; there doesn't really seem to be enough unique information on them to split it up. KosaqN (talk) 20:08, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Support merge: We don't typically have different articles for a town and its inhabitants, and there doesn't seem to be any particular reason to do so here – even assuming that all of the content from Clitorians could be copied wholesale into this article, it would still clock in at only around 1500 words, so it's not as if there's a space concern. • Support. As Caecilius says, there's no obvious need for separate articles here. Plus I find the spelling of the people odd, as it differs from the orthography of the town's name—presumably they should be "Cleitorians", not "Clitorians". One wonders if the author made a Freudian slip in choosing the title of the article. The main source, presumably the substantial article in the Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography, uses "Cleitorians" once or twice, and "Cleitorii" at least once. As there's apparent unanimous consensus and no comments in over a week, I've gone ahead and carried out the merge. There was some content about the war with Orchomenus that seemed so confused that I haven't copied over – someone else should feel free to do so if they think it important.
