Cleanup tags

@Rosguill: I don't understand these cleanup tags on this article. Is there any bias in this article that needs to be corrected? Jarble (talk) 16:00, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Jarble, in hindsight the OR tag alone probably would be enough. I am concerned, however, that the overwhelming majority of sources on the article are published by the government of California. While on rereading I think that the sentences themselves are written neutrally as far as word choices and staying away from puffery, the overall impression that I get of the article is a brochure about all the proactive things that California is doing for the environment, with essentially no independent assessment of their effectiveness. _signed, Rosguill ^talk 16:48, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia Assignment Part 1 - My critique of the article

The two questions I am focusing on are:

- Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added? - Where does the information come from? Are these neutral sources? If biased, is that bias noted?

My Comments:

1. As @Rosgill (the notice when the Wikipedia article is first opened) mentioned, the majority of the information on this page consists of information from primary sources, directly from the State of CA's government documents. As they admit, the sentences themselves are neutral, but there is a need for more depth and analysis of the policies themselves. As we are aware, at times policy does not equate to helpful change. Therefore, my plan is to look at a few of the sources that the policies refer to, and dive in deeper into the implementation and effectiveness.

2. This article has not been kept up to date. I believe the latest Senate Bill it shows is from 2014. There have been plenty after that. My plan is to (1) neaten up the Senate Bill list, (2) make sure each Senate Bill has an adequate summary (a few are missing), and (3) add a few Senate Bills that have been enacted since 2014.

3. Overall, this article is very disorganized. The headings are random, the article itself isn't sectioned in a way that flows well, it does not cover the grand scope of all the fields where climate change policy is happening in CA, and there are random thorough sections juxtaposed against other bare sections.

4. Once I add what I think is necessary, I will do my best to add to the "lead" section. It is inadequate.
