Succession box

edit

Removed the WLiiA? succession box -- the show only had two hosts, and really, Clive wasn't succeed by Drew Carey. Amnewsboy 10:32, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

DEAD?!?!

edit

He's not dead! Certainly not 2 years ago anyway... He was on QI.

To add to my point this page has been defaced with reference to the spoof Brass Eye. IN which case it is VERY inaccurate as Brass Eye went out in 1997/8 so the said incident could not have taken place in 2004. Get your facts right if you want to plagarise Chris Morris.

Noel Edmonds

did noel edmonds kill him??? if u now send me an email johnnie.gallacher@gmail —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.129.27.134 (talk) 22:20, 13 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

That was part of a satirical show called Brass Eye which was made by Chris Morris, part of a fake news report, during one of the episodes.--Welshsocialist (talk) 22:12, 6 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Radio 4

edit

Clive Anderson did a piece on Radio 4 on wikipedia 24-Jul-2007 http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/pip/efv21/

Yeah I thought I'd come on and add that in case everyone else that just heard him challenge the Wikipedia community to do so was busy, but you beat me to it ;) Sean 11:09, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hehe, aren't we all checking out Michael Portillo too? ;) Great programme, but i was suprised that Clive let that pretensious anti-Wiki naysayer make his outrageous claims without any retort. Unusually quiet of Clive. Lurkio 18:24, 24 July 2007 (UTC)LurkioReply
Well I'm glad the actually had some fair criticism of Wikipedia by comparison to Britannica's experts-only style and so on, but there were a couple of claims that require a "citation needed" tag :) Sean 00:18, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think Clive is a reliable source, if we stretch the definition. Tim Vickers 03:43, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
"Now, I wonder if my Wikipedia entry will record the fact that I've made a program about Wikipedia?" Very nice. Λυδαcιτγ 04:52, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Second Tim on the reliability of Clive (and the BBC; although it was more light entertainment than thorough journalism). He's a national treasure!  ;-) I did particularly like the section in the programme where he turned the spotlight onto the entry for "cat" in the early editions of some of our esteemed "paper and ink" rivals. And some say WP has too much POV ... --Plumbago 08:47, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Cute but unencyclopedic" gah...I thought it rounded the paragraph of nicely....(regarding the removal of the fact that Clive wondered at the end of program whether the program would cause this page to change)...

I'm not going to edit the page and put it back, but I thought it belonged there...perhaps somebody could wrap up his actual quote in a more 'encyclopedic' manner and make suitable for the main article...

I have a pic (about twenty pics, one is bound to be usable) of Clive Anderson I took for this page. They're currently on my work laptop, but I should have that home and be able to upload the pic early next week - David Gerard 20:26, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Barrister

edit

While the article does not indicate any prominent cases Anderson was involved with, it seems desirable that his former occupation is given in the resume, if only as an indication of the approach he uses in his work. "Criminal law" did seem an unnecessary elaboration though, so I have cut it from the introduction. The use of "barrister turned comedy writer" in the caption on the relevant page of Radio Times for the "Story" programme was surely meant as a compliment to this site, another reason to keep it. Philip Cross 21:08, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is no question he is known as a former barrister, I'd rather put the comedy writer first but couldnt reword it in a way I liked so I have left it and I do agree that the barrister is notable enough for the opening, SqueakBox 21:14, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
He is still technically a barrister in fact.- Wolfkeeper 14:43, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

{{Notable Wikipedian}} on this page

edit

What's the evidence that he edited as that IP? Videmus Omnia Talk 21:16, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Huh? As what IP? Your comment is incomprehensible so please clarify, SqueakBox 00:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Please look slightly up the page, at the templates there. This should improve your comprehension somewhat. Videmus Omnia Talk 01:01, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yep, we need a good source for that (I'll relisten to the wikipedia story prog tomorrow and see if we can source it from there or not) and I've deleted it, SqueakBox 01:05, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
He stated on the programme that he made this edit. Paul B 09:03, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Quite, I've restored it. User:David_Gerard supervised the change. I think people are forgeting that things like WP:Cite are guidelines, not rules and should be implemented in conjunction with WP:Use common sense. John 20:30, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I can also confirm that he did make that edit, as featured on the radio programme. I originally added it to the article. The template for a "Notable Wikipedian" appears to require a user name rather than an IP address, so I will remove the template. Snowman (talk) 09:03, 24 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

He supports Arsenal ...

This is scarcely encyclopedic. It is no more encyclopedic than "his favourite colour is green". It would be encyclopedic if he were on the board of a sports-team. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.136.226.105 (talk) 10:40, 6 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
