General comments
editMaybe parts of north Clondalkin, i.e. Ronanstown, Quarrayvale, etc have some poverty but in general, I think Clondalkin is quite prosperous at the moment. Crime is no worse than anywhere in the city of Dublin.
I love how the petshop is listed as a main attraction. Who put that in there? 89.100.51.85 02:50, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Toastmasters
editI have removed some of the Toastmaster information because it is blatant advertising. If people are interested in knowing more about the club they will click on the link and the club's website should have all the details. I'm not against Toasties, I've been a member for a few years, but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Roaming27 10:39, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yes it certainly was blatant advertising. I've rewritten it some more, it should be NPOV now. --Hibernian 16:06, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you Hibernian :-) Roaming27 00:20, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Local clubs
editThis needs a bit of a clean-up. Some of it is not really notable and some of it is advertising. I'll try and make some time to re-word some of it. If anyone wishes to discuss any issues please post here, thanks. Roaming27 10:43, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
The Round Tower
editI'd say put more in about the Round Tower, the GAA club of the same name and the Gaelscoil, since the latter 2 are the first in Ireland.
- Darn tootin'! I found a picture here http://media.photobucket.com/image/clondalkin%20round%20tower/hutton001/ClondalkinRoundTower.jpgFile:Http://media.photobucket.com/image/clondalkin round tower/hutton001/ClondalkinRoundTower.jpg
I noticed the article on Round Towers doesn't link here. We've one of the best examples in the world so I reckon it deserves a mention.89.100.38.132 (talk) 20:42, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Edit
editI have deleted Transport and added it into today. I am wondering should I add a map of the area. Any help and comments welcome.

Some verification is needed for the comment unemployment is higher in North Clondalkin. I will leave it in for now

1641 Rebellion
editSaying that the "native Irish" rose up against the "British" at this point in history is a bit over-simplistic. The Irish at this point would have included Norse descendants and various people from Great Britain and elsewhere, and not all of them rebelled. I'll have to go back to the history books for a better way of explaining it, but if anyone has a good idea in the meantime, go ahead.

I've changed it to be a bit more precise. I still want to tidy up the paragraph - it wasn't British occupation, as the Act of Union hadn't occurred yet; I don't remember exactly what they were rebelling against.
The change I've made can be attributed to Norman Davies' "The Isles: a history", but I don't want to add it in yet in case it gives the false impression that the reference supports the whole sentence, which Davies would not agree with.

Drat, I meant Norman Davies above, where I previously posted Norman Jeffries. My apologies to the author and to anyone who was misled.

I finished up the general material on 1641 and put in the references. I've no idea about Clondalkin's role in the rebellion, so I can't help with that reference.
Education
editThe section on education claims that schools in Clondalkin are from "many denominations". I strongly suspect that they are only from Roman Catholic and Anglican (Church of Ireland) denominations, but I may be wrong. Does anyone have an example of one which is of a different denomination?
