Close paraphrasing

I have tagged this article as it has been copied virtually verbatim from Keith Warsop's book "The Early FA Cup Finals" and needs to be rewritten to avoid charges of copyright theft. Bikeroo (talk) 23:00, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

I am looking to improve the article to a more familiar format for player biographies, albeit he was an amateur, and also add information that has come to light since Warsop's book was published. I know (as a correspondent) Keith Warsop, as I was a contributor of much information to that book (for which I am acknowledged by real name) from archive sources. I am therefore adding information from periodicals, no dedicated book having been published about Lloyd-Jones. (I declare I am unrelated to the latter, a native of a village near my home, although his name partly inspired my user name.)Cloptonson (talk) 06:42, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Edited Out - Imaginative Statement

I have edited out the imaginative statement (which in first place seems to have been directly lifted from Warsop's book), as a reading of the original newspaper report today reveals no mention of prizes given, and it does not describe the costume:

He did not win a prize but, far from London and during the winter months, his appearance in the gaudy Clapham colours of cerise and French grey would have stood out flamboyantly from his surroundings. Cloptonson (talk) 19:21, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Withdrawn comment - source needs check

I have withdrawn from the page the sentence below until a reliable source can be located for the comment, as it was attributed to Bell's Life in London but the footnote attached wrongly states C.W. Alcock was its editor. He was not, but he was editor of Football, A Weekly Record of Game, in which I found comments on CALJ but I have lost record of the issue's date and page. I also doubt the comment as worded appears in the transcript of the Bell's Life report. Perhaps someone with access to Alcock's magazine files (I got mine from the Newspaper Library at Colindale, N London) could help here? I have reproduced the citation/footnote as I wrote it to facilitate checking against date.

In the latter match at that stage of his career, C.W. Alcock commented, "Lloyd-Jones seems to have lost the brilliant dash which characterized his play in past seasons though much of the time he did a lot of useful work".
