editCassius Dio in 57.3 and Tacitus in 3.49 calls the man "Gaius Lutorius Priscus" (one of the few times Tacitus actually provides the full name of somebody obscure). Could the title Clutorius Priscus be the mistaken spelling of "C. Lutorius Priscus"? I understand modern authors, such as Levick here, have made the mistake of "Clutorius", but I don't think it's correct. William Smith in DGRBM also has him as "Gaius Lutorius Priscus".
"C. (for Gaius) Lutorius Priscus" is correct. How modern scholars mess up is anybody's guess, maybe misreading their own notes. Badgerexpat (talk) 21:08, 9 April 2018 (UTC)badgerexpat
