Isn't coarse fishing defined more by the target species than the technique used? Johnbod (talk) 01:19, 1 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes it is. You can fish with a worm for trout, or with a fly for chub or indeed mullet. Coarse fishing is fishing for coarse fish, game fishing is fishing for game fish – and it just happens that certain methods tend to suit (and in some cases are legal for) the different species. I've edited the lead para to make this clearer. Richard New Forest (talk) 13:10, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've tweaked the description of the various types of anglers, as it seemed a bit vague previously Billrush (talk) 23:53, 18 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Grammar

edit

The names of fish should be decapitalised - they are not proper nouns. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:08, 7 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Close season

edit

It's a bit odd to have an article about coarse fishing that doesn't state a single word about the close season (applying to all UK rivers, 15 Match to 15 June inclusive). I don't have time to write a creditable para with suitable references (waterways agency etc), but I hope someone will read and take my suggestion forward.
