Consistent time measurements, please

The article veers between “10,000 ybp”, “10ka”, and “10,000 cal BP” as ways to abbreviate “ten thousand years before the present.” I suggest picking one abbreviation and using it consistently. Do they have different meanings? In a generalist article dealing with events that happened less than 20,000 years ago, is there cause to specify “calendar” years (assuming that’s what “cal” means) as opposed to sidereal years or what have you, especially when dating events by the millennium?
