editThis coat of arms lacks a cross right on top of the Bible. Is there a reason why this is so?
I say this as a Dominican
editI always felt that the coat of arm of the Dominican Republic is a bit TOO religious. A Bible, a crucifix and the cross which creates the four quadrants of the flag? I know why they are there but i feel it lacks some depiction of aspects native to the country. Does anyone know of any other symbols that exist out there?
I Say This As A Dominican
editThe reason for this is because Dominican Republic went through slavery and all that stuff to win there freedom. So, the only thing they had is to trust in God. This is why it is so religious. I can agree with you too, but if you don't know the whole story {which I looked up} you would understand. I am not trying to be disrespectful. Yes, there are other symbols. An example of this is Mexico. They have a eagle holding a snake I think. There is a lengend behind it.
I say this as Casimiro's grandson
editAccording to dominican historian Frank Moya Pons, the coat of arms was designed by noted geographer, historian, politician and urbanist Casimiro Nemesio de Moya. He was also the author of BOSQUEJO HISTÓRICO de SANTO DOMINGO one of the earliest complete histories of the island. Please note that Casimiro Nemesio de Moya should not be confused with his uncle Casimiro de Moya. 71.188.33.237 21:49, 28 June 2007 (UTC) F. X. Moya
Urgent: to change the coat of arms
editIt is urgent to change the drawing of the coat of arms because it is wrong and it is being used by the Wikipedia in all languages. The true, and legal, Dominican coat of arms has the red ribbon on the bottom with the tips upwards and not like it is shown here. If you wish, visit the site of the [Presidencia de la República] --66.98.79.5 15:20, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Description no longer matches the picture of the coat of arms
editThe description states that the coat of arms has 6 spears, but the one pictured, which from previous Talk entries was updated from http://presidencia.gov.do/, has only 4. The coat of arms in the center of the flag of the Dominican Republic, however, does have 6 spears, and there are pictures at the site cited above that do show the flag with 6 spears in the coat of arms (for example, here -> http://www.presidencia.gob.do/sites/default/files/styles/gallery_noticias/public/content/noticias/2014/08/29/portadaconfirmabc.jpg?itok=uPpCGmBO).66.187.81.227 (talk) 15:21, 1 September 2014 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.187.81.227 (talk) 15:16, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
