Emblem?
editWhy the Russian coat's are called emblems? This text is absolutely wrong : Quite often the Russian state emblems are incorrectly called "coats of arms". . These symbols are actually coats of arms. They have all the parts of the coat and do not have a similarity with the communist or other state emblems. --Scroch (talk) 13:08, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

The result of the proposal was moved to Coat of arms of the Russian Empire--RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 20:43, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
National emblems of the Russian Empire → Coat of arms of Russian Empire — Clearly it bares all the characters of coat of arms. The symbols are not emblem.—Scroch (talk) 21:37, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Shouldn't it be Coats of arms of Russian Empire? — AjaxSmack 04:50, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support Coats of arms of Russian Empire --Cybercobra (talk) 08:03, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Rather Coats of arms of the Russian Empire, I'd think. Ucucha 10:12, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support, as nominated. WP:SINGULAR suggests the use of singular in such cases, so Coat of arms rather than Coats of arms. Nsk92 (talk) 13:43, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support; however, the subject matter is in fact plural. The article provides information on various forms of the Coats of Arms--differing forms which were used simultaneously, not just successive forms. MishaPan (talk) 13:56, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Like I said, the naming convention WP:SINGULAR says that the singular form should be used in such cases, even if the article discusses several versions of an object. E.g. Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom also has several versions of the British coat of arms. Nsk92 (talk) 14:06, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Support move to Coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Articles are generally singular in name and you need to retain the 'the' in the title for it to read correctly. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:03, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- After I entered this I saw that this is already a redirect. So clearly this title has some additional support since an editor for the need for a redirect from it. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:04, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Merge
editThis article may be better merged in to Coat of arms of Russia. Likewise, the Coat of arms of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic should be merged into Coat of arms of Russia as well. The coat of arms articles are mostly short to begin with, and it would be simpler for a reader to find all of these small in one place. A brief entry paragraph or two, followed by sections on tsarist, imperial, socialist and modern emblems or arms. Also, this will better show the evolution of the symbols by seeing a complete history, rather than in segmented articles. [tk] XANDERLIPTAK 03:25, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Greater Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire 1882-1917 (mass replacement)
editOn these two pages, published a letter from the Chief Heraldry Master of Russia. It is dated 2006. http://www.rus-deco.com/vp/JS-Lib/CustomerSites/Common/view_larger.htm?src=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rus-deco.com%2F510_500_csupload_20087015.jpg%3Fu%3D553230982
- At the present moment is initiated his replacement to this picture without a single mistake and the author's portrayal: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Greater_Coat_of_Arms_of_the_Russian_Empire_1700x1767_pix_Igor_Barbe_2006.jpg Earlier, the authors insisted on the presence of yellow in the figure dies with his name. For VIKI author has made an exception. However, the file with a yellow bg can remain - it has more resolution. References to it are optional for connoisseurs. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Greater_coat_of_arms_of_the_Russian_empire_IGOR_BARBE_1500x1650jpg.jpg All files are located here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Greater_Coat_of_Arms_of_the_Russian_Empire
