Which bacon?

edit

It is rather confusing when it says it contains back bacon, but the link is to "fatback" which is a different article than "back bacon" and then the photo is of a cooked piece of "streaky bacon", a third substance. So, which is correct? I don't know, so I can't fix it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.232.73.129 (talk) 16:13, 1 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Guinness

edit

I think that the Guinness reference is a bit too much. While it may be true that people are wont, of course, especially Dubliners, to eat a coddle before a night out, it doesn't necessarily mean that coddle is best served with Guinness. Water or a pint of milk can offset the saltiness of the dish more easily than Guinness. I'm a Dubliner from [1]Donaghmede; there's no doubt that Guinness was never served with coddle in my day. It's like saying that Toad in the hole is best served with a pint of bitter or that a Spanish omelette is best served with sangria. At least say, if I'm disagreed with regarding the above to a sufficient degree, that it is best served with stout, rather than a particular brand of stout. Many prefer Beamish or Murphy's... 82.157.192.187 00:14, 13 December 2006 (UTC)MiknolanReply

removed altogether as kinda stereotypical touristy stuff. pure WP:OR but i'm irish and a big fan of this dish, and i don't have guinness with it. indeed, to have a proper guinness with it you'd have to have it in a pub and there's not many (perhaps non-tourist, anyway) pubs that serve coddle these days, even in dublin. if someone wants to re-add this, i'd recommend finding a source. --Kaini (talk) 00:32, 12 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's crept back in. Removing. You could have a stout with it, if you bought it in (one of the few!) pubs that serve it, but yeah - does not contain Guinness or any other stout in any recipe I've ever seen. Removing. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 18:22, 4 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Is that bacon?

edit

Can someone positively identify that as "back bacon" in the photo, because I've only seen Canadian bacon? Bod (talk) 01:35, 15 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
