spelling of Coeur d'Alene
editAre we sure of the accent on the 'e' in Alene? The city and the tribe both omit it, if it was ever present to begin with. 67.164.83.84 (talk) 17:24, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
There are no references I can find of the accent over the 'e' being used. Even the cited reference doesn't use the accent and having grown up in the town of Coeur d'Alene, I can assert that I have never seen an accent used before. The article should be moved to an accent-less page. Other sites, including Fotopedia, link here and use this article as a springboard for other articles, so it would be good to clear this up, as the use of an accent is confounding to anyone from Coeur d'Alene. --Waliy sherpa (talk) 16:35, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- I can't find any evidence of the Alène spelling either. USGS GNIS has about 50 entries involving the name Coeur d'Alene. None of them use an è, in offical or variant names. I suggest we move the page. Pfly (talk) 22:27, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Agreed. So how do we do that?--Waliy sherpa (talk) 02:47, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- I just put in a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves. If I understand correctly, an admin is required because the redirect at Coeur d'Alene Mountains has more than one history entry (a bot added a second edit at some point). I think "Requested moves" is the correct way to get an admin's attention. Other methods of moving would, I think, lose the edit history here. Grrr... Pfly (talk) 12:48, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
