Cold Spring as a hiking stop
editIn 2007, Daniel Case added this paragraph, which an anonymous IP deleted as an opinionated statement in March 2017;
"They receive ample use not only from local residents taking the train but from city residents visiting the village, as the station is adjacent to the quaint shops and streets of the Cold Spring Historic District. Hikers can often be seen around the station on warmer weekends, headed to or from the nearby peaks of the Hudson Highlands, since service here is regular while the more convenient Breakneck Ridge is merely a flag stop."
I'm not so sure just how popular it truly is for hikers, but since my November 2017 photographic rampage here, as well as other parts of the Hudson Line, I can confirm that the station does cater to them. Besides the existing ramp to the old West Point Foundry, various signs direct tourists, commuters, and hikers to these trails.

A historic-looking official MTA sign

.. close up maps of Cold Spring and Beacon, where one of those trails spans.

Another historic-looking official MTA sign.
And for the record, Breakneck Ridge (Metro-North station) is a flag stop. Perhaps that anonymous IP should reconsider removing that paragraph. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 01:25, 24 December 2017 (UTC)

edit@Epicgenius: Could you do a round-robin move for this to Cold Spring station (New York) when you have a chance? Thanks.--Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 14:25, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613, I've moved it to "Cold Spring station (Metro-North)" instead. I would have ordinarily moved it to the NY disambiguator, but Metro-North seemed like a better fit for a few reasons. First, this is served only by Metro-North, not shared with NJT and Amtrak. Second it would be consistent with all other MNR-only articles with similar disambiguation. – Epicgenius (talk) 16:25, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
