Myer Divestiture
Eager as I am to redo this page now that Myer has been sold off, I think that I should wait. Is Coles Myer going to change its ASX listing to be just "Coles Ltd"? I guess they have to, in which case we'll need to move this page and get rid of all the references to Myer being currently owned. (P.S. Can I just remove the advertising below??) --DreamsReign 02:24, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
The CM press release [1] which came out the day of the Myer sale mentioned the company would be looking at a change of name in the coming weeks. Inevitably it will be Coles Ltd I would say. Andypasto 07:31, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
Still no name change, but I think someone should work on removing Myer from the business list and writing about the sale. --Biggles 16:12, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
I don't think the sale is as yet complete, it could take months. Andypasto 00:45, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
If I am not mistaken the name change will now take place in late 2006. Coles Ltd. is the most probable name, but other names are being considered such as Coles Target Ltd. Sohan.s 03:40, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- Just heard on ABC News that they will be renaming themselves to Coles Group Ltd. SMH article ABC News Online --Lumina83 02:27, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Products
I HAVE A RECEIPT FROM COLES DATED NOV. 2010 AND IT HAS ON THE TOP "COLES SUPERMARKETS AUSTRLIA PTY. LTD. " - THAT SUGGESTS IT'S PRIVATE COMPANY. SO WHY ALL THIS TALK THAT IT IS A PUBLIC COMPANY AND LISTED ON THE ASX?
WE NEED CLEARLY TO READ IF IT IS A PRIVATE OR PUBLIC COMPANY. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.228.1.21 (talk) 10:07, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- Coles Myer has sold Myer to Newbridge Capital which is part of the Texas Pacific Group. They will probably change name soon
- Shell stores are run by Royal Dutch Shell
I hope this clears things up
- No, it doesn't actually. Shell service stations in Australia are operated (or "run") by Coles Express, who are licenced to use the Shell brand in Australia. Shell owns the sites and leases them to Coles Express. Murtoa 05:37, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Not all Shell service stations are run by Coles Express, just as many Caltex centres are not run by Safeway/Woolworths Plus. --Crazycrazyduck 07:16, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Fair enough. But I would think there are many more non-Woolworths Caltex sites than non-Coles Express Shell sites, particularly in metro areas. Most of the non-Coles Express Shell sites I suspect would be locations associated with Shell distributors in country areas. In urban areas, there may be a few sites not owned by Shell where the owner and / or operator merely has an agreement for Shell to supply fuel. Shell website clarifies as follows:
- "Shell is the exclusive fuels and lubricants supplier to the Shell Coles Myer Alliance, under which Coles Express operates Shell’s retail property network of over 600 service stations across Australia. The Retail business is the manager of the relationship between Shell and more than 350 branded retail sites, which are supplied by Shell and located in regional and rural locations within Australia." (This last sentence refers to the non-CE sites) Murtoa 02:32, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Page Name
I have moved the page back to Coles Myer. The company is not yet known as Coles Group Limited, so please don't move it to that name at least until the name changs is approved by shareholders. --Richmeister 11:20, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Keep coles myer page the same
just make new page
Please, no more edits to the articles saying that the page will be moved. Discussion about the article itself belongs on and only on this talk page. Richmeister 08:30, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
OK, but i can upgrade page??? Ă-- 09:01, 4 August 2006 (UTC)ÚÁ
- What would you like to change about the page? Currently, I believe that mentioning that the company plans to change its name in the first paragraph is sufficient. If, however, you would like to write a new section about the probosed rebranding then feel free to, but please don't copy and paste newspaper articles into the page. --Richmeister 09:06, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
On the side of the page it still lists John Fletcher as being the managing director when actually it's now Richard Goyder ( I can't edit this myself, can someone else?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.49.159.38 (talk) 11:58, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Names of rebranded stores?
We Know that Bi-Lo has been rebranded as Coles Supermarkets.
So what would the other stores become?
I think that the following stores has become/will become
- Coles Supermarkets: Duh, Coles Supermarkets
- Bi-Lo: Converted to Coles Supermarkets
- Liquorland: Coles Liquor
- Vintage Cellars: Coles Liquor or if wine focus is mantained Coles Wine
- 1st Choice Liquor: Coles Liquor
- Pick 'n Pay Hypermarket:
Coles SuperstoresColes SuperCenter - Kmart:
Coles Variety as "Coles General Merchandise" sounds stupidColes SuperCenter - Coles Express: Duh, Coles Express
- Kmart Tyre and Auto: Coles Tyre and Auto as kmart is used as a brand as "Coles Variety Tyre and Auto" is just too long.
Harris Technology becomes Officeworks Computing or Officeworks ICT
Pharmacy Direct becomes Coles Pharmacy Direct for the Mail-Order company and Coles Pharmacy for a possible separate pharmacy.
Your Opinions? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.122.235.59 (talk) 07:51, 7 January 2007 (UTC).
- Many of the names (e.g. Harris Technology, Pharmacy Direct, Vintage Cellars) will remain unchanged. K-mart's sub-branding has not been made public.
- The article does not need to be altered at this point in time.--Biggles 14:40, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- I am 203.122.235.59 (the reason the ip is different is that my Broadband is Down) and the names were my speculation and was put in the talk page as so this could be discussed with other wikimedians. It was not to be aimed as a submission. and the names were designed as to reduce the brands to the main three [Coles, Target, Officeworks} —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 211.29.0.192 (talk) 05:47, 9 January 2007 (UTC).
- Hope you dont mind my above edits. DXRAW 06:01, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Coles-supercentre.jpeg
Image:Coles-supercentre.jpeg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:21, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Trail Brands, Retailers, and ideas
Has any one got a list of brands such as there short lived 'Auto1' nock off that the Coles group has made over the years? It would be interesting to see what they tried, what failed, and what has worked more or less as a history stand point in Australian business history. Also, if you have some brands that the group purchased, closed, or renamed it would also be interesting. --Amckern (talk) 09:21, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- I think that private labels should not be included within this section as they are an entity/brand within their own right. If something like that were to be included it would either best be added to the retailers own page (eg. 'Savings' on the Coles Supermarkets page) or create one for each and every brand which is pointless. 195.144.135.189 (talk) 10:10, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
