Tone

edit

The tone of this article is biased. It would be more appropriate to eliminate allegations that Thatcher switched parties simply because the public's preference changed, as well as numerous other sections. Toshiba, you are correct in stating that in legal terms, Thatcher is held to have killed Wilson. That does not justify unnecessary rudeness towards him. This is an encyclopedia that strives for neutrality, not a soapbox for anyone's convictions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.241.4.73 (talk) 22:24, 22 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Involvement in the murder

edit

Toshiba, there is still some controversy over exactly how Wilson died. Most people believe that Thatcher was behind the killing, though whether he killed Wilson himself or got someone to do the job for him is uncertain. Indeed, he never directly confessed to the crime in his bugged conversation with Anderson, though he did make statements which pointed to at least peripheral involvement. There is even a small but vocal minority who believe that Thatcher is entirely innocent of any involvement in the murder. For these reasons, I believe it is more appropriate to state in the article's introduction that Thatcher was "involved in" the killing of his ex-wife, not that Thatcher necessarily "killed" her. The reason for this wording becomes clear when one reads the remainder of the article. —Psychonaut 04:04, 21 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

I don't have a barrow to push here at all but I think you'll find when he's convicted the general form is to refer to him - without qualification - as a killer. Nice of you to leave the question open but in Canadian legal terms it's case closed and the article should reflect that. Toshiba 08:50, 21 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Wheat Kings song

edit

Maybe I'm missing something, but it's my understanding that the song Wheat Kings by the Tragically Hip refers to David Milgaard, not Colin Thatcher. The only references I can find connecting Thatcher to the song are exact copies of the sentence I removed here, i Wikipedia itself.69.159.191.213 21:49, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm afraid that this article simply had way too much unsourced controversial information for a biography of a living person. Murderer or not, the same Wikipedia policies apply. This article can't drop suggestions of abuse and harassment (or even the lesser crime of political opportunism) into an biography article, without it being supported by good reliable sources.
