The initial language of this article was German. Not sure of the utility of this article, but if it's kept, the translation will need a lot of work, and the title, which is also an awkward translation of the German one, will want to be changed as well Eric talk 12:05, 20 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
- I think this should be merged into the existing article at Cologne Cathedral, whose German article is much more extensive than the English version. So I see why a separate article for this topic here exists in German Wikipedia, but I do not see a need for a separate article on English Wikipedia. - I agree. Eric talk 15:56, 20 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
- I crossposted this at Talk:Cologne Cathedral, more eyes are always useful. Lectonar (talk) 17:09, 20 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
I can see that there is a lot under discussion here so I don't want to jump in too much but can I please just mention that, if the article continues to exist in this kind of form, I would love it if we could lose the "the". It simply doesn't work in my dialect of English and to me sounds like a mistranslation from (e.g.) German. I realize that YMMV and ENGVAR and everything but currently it sounds horrible to me, and I am a reasonably-nearby English speaker, yadda yadda yadda etc. Thanks! - @DBaK: Of course you're correct...feel free to move the article to Surroundings of Cologne Cathedral (although even then the title still reads and looks clunky), but as the article creator is a hot topic over at AN, I didn't look at the title too much. Cheers and happy editing. Lectonar (talk) 19:22, 21 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
- Graciously done by the article creator in the meantime. Lectonar (talk) 19:57, 21 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
- Well, that's great, thanks all. I didn't want to move it myself in case I annoyed someone or it turned out to be an ENGVAR issue (mismatches in "the" usage between AmE and BrE, my looking, ermm, ownery over it being closer to Middlesbrough than Middlesborough, etc etc) but since the article originator has kindly done it, I am well chuffed, thanks. I was emboldened to similarly zap Finials of the Cologne Cathedral and hope that this is also OK. Tbh I had not realized that LA was having grief at AN as I usually try to avoid that stuff. Sorry to hear it, hope it comes out alright. With thanks and very best to all, DBaK (talk) 22:03, 21 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
