Unsubstantiated claim of 'rivalry'

Colorado fans may believe this is a rivalry but this is NO rivalry, check the records over the last 40 years and see that. For it to be a rivalry this should not be a one sided affair, as obviously it has been for so long and will likely be again here soon. This page and the Missouri/Nebraska "Rivalry" page are ridiculous. Nebraska fans do not view either team as a rivalry.

I have added in a tag on this page because the entire article is unsubstantiated. A person could basically make this same page and claim a rivalry exists between Nebraska vs nearly every other former Big 8 opponent, be it Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State. All have had some current success against Nebraska and there are likely those from each school who would look at any of them as a rival. That does not meet the criteria for consideration of a rivalry. Also, one reference is completely twisted around, no mention of rivalry is made in the reference yet the statement in the wiki page points to the reference as source of a rivalry statement.

The rivalry pages for Colorado and Missouri should not even exist. They are not Nebraska rivalries. Rivalry defined is the act of rivaling or the fact or condition of being a rival or rivals in competition, however the act of competition in rivalry defined states that to be a rival, one must demonstrate equal or near to abilities as the other(s) in order to correctly be defined as rivalries. Nebraska vs Oklahoma is a rivalry, due to the all time series record being so close (44–38–3 in favor of Oklahoma). However, Nebraska has a big lead over Colorado in their series record (48–18–2 in favor of Nebraska) and an even bigger lead in the series record over Missouri (64-36-3 in favor of Nebraska). Favoring recent outcomes and not taking into account the history in the series is not a proper move, the entire series has to be taken into account, and when done so properly only Oklahoma truly fits the definition of a Nebraska's rival.

I will wait for further discussion on this topic, or for referenced proof that in fact these are rivalries, however understand that proof may exist from one or both schools stating unequivocally that a rivalry does in fact not exist, which can also be taken into account. Unless such references are produced, I will request that this page be removed from Wikipedia for failing to meet the standards required. RTShadow (talk) 19:36, 16 December 2009 (UTC)RTShadow

There's no rivalry here. The article points out what really happened - McCartney was looking for something to motivate the Colorado players so he just contrived a big game for them. Colorado slid into Oklahoma's spot in the post-Thanksgiving game vs. Nebraska when the Big 12 was created, but no real rivalry exists between the teams. I acknowledge that Colorado gets up for this game because it is against Nebraska, but you could say that of Kansas, K-State, Mizzou, etc. Nebraska has more of a rivalry with Kansas than Colorado based on the fact that NU and KU have played each other every year for ages. Rivalry consolidation?

I am considering consolidating all of Nebraska's current rivalry articles (Nebraska–Oklahoma football rivalry, Colorado–Nebraska football rivalry, Missouri–Nebraska football rivalry) into a single article, and also adding to it the three major historical rivalries (Pitt, Notre Dame, Minnesota). Frankly I think thats impossible. The rivalry pages are just as related to Colorado, Missouri, and Oklahoma as they are to Nebraska. Grey Wanderer (talk) 17:34, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Oklahoma is true rival for Nebraska..

With no true championships under CU's belt they are not considered by Nebraska as a rival. CU worst fan base in the country. They pour beer on old people, they key out of state cars.
