Colorado Springs shootingColorado Springs shooting (disambiguation) – The title should be revised so that no links to this dab page appear to be erroneous. Love of Corey (talk) 05:02, 28 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

It's not clear what you want to do here. There's erroneous links incoming to the page, that need to be disambiguated? --Joy [shallot] (talk) 10:19, 28 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Love of Corey I just noticed the comment, sorry. I agree that that hatnote formatting is a bit weird. The answer is to apply WP:HAT which says 'Links to disambiguation pages should always end in "(disambiguation)"' IOW we don't have to move the disambiguation page, just format the hatnotes so there's no pipe link. --Joy (talk) 09:31, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

The current formatting is actually correct for cases like this where the dab page is at the plain title (without "disambiguation" appended). Please see the last example at WP:INTDABLINK, and WP:HOWTODAB. The formatting allows the link to go to Colorado Springs shooting (disambiguation) so that the bot does not list it as an error, while showing the actual title of the dab page, Colorado Springs shooting, to the reader. That last form is not the only correct one, and I'd argue that it's pretty confusing in the grand scheme of intdablink guidelines, because we seem to expend so much effort to add very clear " (disambiguation)" markers elsewhere but then make this exception, which was clearly too confusing to someone, as seen in the example above. --Joy (talk) 11:09, 5 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
